President BHO gave NCSU $200 million last year ($140m for this center + $60m for NSA big daddy...I mean big data analytics). As a State alum I'm proud on one level and very worried on twelve more levels. Where does a broke a$$ country get $200m we don't have to invest in good things or bad things or anything? It's like telling a homeless man he needs to act quickly before he misses the Porsche Carrera S sale. Act now...it's a very good investment for your future! You can't miss it. Drunken sailors only spend their own money. POTUS is spending the money of people yet unborn and those would be our grandchildren and great-grandbabies. Is this brilliant chip project going to give the taxpayer dividends and ROI for our retirement since they are using OUR confiscated tax money? Nay, no, and fifty more nays. Instead the rights and wealth will go to big electronics firms and cell phone companies like Apple, who in turn charge us for technology WE funded, who then in turn fund neo-comm, morally dead DNC candidates. They use OUR money to fund projects which enrich companies who then bless liberals morons like...well...you know. Why is this some kind of celebrated victory when it's grand theft and vile corruption at a multi-generational, multi-cultural level.
+Larry Hatch From my understanding, the money does not go directly to these big companies, rather it goes to the universities which setup labs, train students and collaborate with industries. All these is done with the expectation of creating the manufacturing industry in power electronics, which would create job for people who not necessary have power electronics skills. Well, its kind of a "be in or be out" situation. If the US doesn't do it, someone else would. Probably the Europeans, Germany I guess. When that happens, US will be playing the chasing game.
Hey Larry, I always thought NCSU was supposed to be the more conservative NC college, filled largely with highly rational engineers, yet these students were just eating up everything Obama said, not thinking for one second about the ultimate costs of such a plan. Please tell me this small sample was/is not representative of NCSU as a whole.
