I’m a freshman trying to transfer to a d1 school for track, am I able to hit the portal during outdoor season?

Do athletes have to sit out a year if they want to transfer? If you are on a full ride scholarship(athletic) but want to transfer to a new school. How does the scholarship work with the new school? you guys have to come to an agreement on a new scholarship?

Most sports now you get one free transfer. Scholarships at the next school depend on what terms you and them come up with
