This show really knew when to use certain songs. I was expecting it to be played for Lucy leaving the Vault but nope, they saved it for this and just gave us the regular Fallout radio songs first. Music is so important and when you're adapting a videogame where its music is one of its most recognizable aspects, it sucks when that music ia just never used (looking at you Halo). This show did it justice. Super pumped to see New Vegas in season 2
Did you explain to her that it makes no sense that Shady Sands "fell" in 2277 when New Vegas took place in 2281 and it was business as usual for the NCR until the Legion showed up?
@@ULTRAOutdoorsman Its a timeline, and the nuke of Shady sands is most probably after 2277. Because the Timeline continues to the Nuke, the time of 20277 should be underneath the atomic mushroom if the nuking was at 2277... they also used the sentence "Fall of Shady Sands" not "Bombing" or "Destruction" So it can highly imply that Shady Sands was economicly and socialy declinging from 2077 on, and then the Bomb exploded at 2281 or so
Specifically the Fallout 4 theme, it's like finally some part of Fallout embraces both the former and traditional Fallouts (1,2,NV) and the newer more fps oriented Fallouts (3,4,76) as one.
@@arkangelgaming35 the best of both worlds, one might say. I just hope the NCR survived in Nevada or New Mexico, cause "The Fall of Shady Sands" fits in with the first battle of Hoover Dam and them talking about how they're spread thin afterwards in NV, and then the bomb/nuke coming sometime after that could have been the straw that broke the bear's back.
@@arkangelgaming35 They took the main plots of 3 and 4, combined them into one good one, while embracing the themes and atmosphere of the traditionals.
@@ManimalMooseto be fair, DC wasn’t the first country’s capital in the U.S., that was actually Philadelphia, then New York, before settling on DC. I do recall them discussing resource issues back in NV, perhaps they moved the capital to a more plentiful location. Or at least a better and more strategic location.
@@swingandamiss5942 the show is doing alot of cameos so we might see him. My guess is if they do retcon anything they might change the games ending. Either way my hands on NCR or yes man. The strip is looking rather quite so I doubt Mr house is around anymore.
Two Things: A) I like that they found someone that looks like they were made in a fallout character creator. B)Daym do they make those jumpsuits look good
It kind of annoys me that people keep saying it's the Fallout 4 theme. It's not - it's the Fallout main theme that's been used since Fallout 3. Prior to that, there was no unified main theme.
I guess to be fair the variation is most similar to Fallout 4's style. That said, it also felt slowed down a little, reflecting the tone in FNV where we last saw the NCR.
Indeed! I've been asking people on discord for the name of the soundtrack and everyone is telling it's the fallout 4 main theme. But it's not any of the game's themes. Sure it's very similar. But not the same.
first season played alot like fallout 3, and second season seems to follow the story of fnv with her being like "i need to find the person who shot my mom in the head"
@@fawazgerhard2742 i think the issue mostly was how they retconned the ncr the rest of the show is actually really good in my eyes i just don't really understand how shady sands could be blown to bits 4 years prior to new vegas and nobody in that game actually talking about it lol let alone parts of new vegas saying that the ncr want to route the power to shady sands but eh guess we shall see how season 2 goes
@@thefacts4440 Yes the New Vegas ending + NCR being destroyed by a small group is making me kinda pissed off like how in the heck the most powerful faction above the Caesar's Legion is destroyed by a small Vaul tec group/single person. Wtf also happened to New vegas in the show ending? I only see Securitons but where are the Chairmen, Great Khans, Followers, Brotherhood of Steel, etc. Maybe if the Vault tec group is helped by the Brotherhood of Steel sure but it won't be to the point of NCR being gone entirely. This show really shows that anything New Vegas and Obsidian related is hated by Bethesda. Sad.
It’s kinda funny how some people have been complaining about the show/Bethesda deleting and ignoring the NCR when the *one* time the main fallout theme plays is when the focus is on the NCR flag. Plus it’s based on 4’s version which is the most hopeful and triumphant rendition out of the games. I’m certain we’ll see the NCR battered and bruised but alive in the second season
To add on to that, it's actually played twice. The second time is when the dad wearing ranger armor appears on screen and they play a very subtle rendition of the theme.
Mostly because the NCR is nowhere to be found apart from this bits that are more like EE or a reference than something of importance, they were added to bait into nostalgia(Ngl i liked the sequences) but thats all.
The music that plays, the same song in different schemes and different contexts. FO3 Sounded very governmental, civilized, clean. NV sounded the same, but dirtier, more wild, untamed, but with the spark of hope that can't die, and riches to be won beyond the dreams of Avarice. FO4 went deeper, the character being of military background, the revolutionary war themes, but more than any of those, the swell-up toward the end symbolizes that no matter how many times one is beaten down, it is natural to rise, account for it, and overcome. In doing so we assure victory in the end. Hope, that's the true solution to war. Hope for happiness the next day, so we can choose not to kill today... Because War Never Changes
Not a NCR ranger, but I am a minuteman and by god did this feel good to hear. But no time to cry, another settlement needs our help. Here I’ll mark it on your map!
I was not expecting the music to hit like that, but I was watching and as soon as I heard the Fallout score start up, I got all excited and my wife had no idea what I was so excited about lol.
This shit made me cry. Used to watch my mom play new vegas as a kid then it was one of the first games i ever played. I had no clue what I was doing but the first time getting to new vegas was insane for me. I was probably around 9 at the time and to just reach new vegas was such an accomplishment for me. My favorite scene in the whole show because of all the memories.
Literally just finished a Fallout 4 100% achievement run 2 hours before they dropped the show on Amazon. The wave of feelings I felt when I saw this scene was insane.
I refuse to believe it's all gone I mean supposedly they were a million strong you cant tell me all those people up and disappeared like what? No possible way
@@davidkrapensits4367 In New Vegas literally everyone in the game not NCR could see it was a nation that's about to Implode from their own hubris, they were stretched so thin basic raider gangs posed a challenge for them. The Nuking of Sandy Shores was just the straw that broke the camel's back, thanks to Hank and Vault-Tec. Also, they show the Fall of Shady Sands only, meaning there's certainly still very much an NCR left. It's like Nuking DC, sure the US would be in shambles as it tries to rebuild it's atomized congress but there would still be a US to begin with.
Heartaches by the number, Gone is shady shores, I want to love this programme, But they’re screwing with the lore! Yes I’ve got heartaches by the numbers, A love that I can’t win, If Bethesda keeps on doing it, Fallouts going in the bin. I actually like the show, but that rhymes.
Since season 2 is in New Vegas, hopefully we see some surviving NCR Rangers in live-action, complete with sickle, black cloak, helmet and the Big Iron.
@@renadex4905 Everyone is espousing, verbatim, that it's the best adaptation ever made. Only so many people have to say the same thing over and over again for there to be a noticeable pattern. Couple that with the fact that it's documented that producers and publishers hire companies to create bots to reinforce positive reviews and reception.
This. This right here. This drove it all home for me, i actually got emotional. The same music I heard 15 years ago, which defined this franchise for me. YES!
@@user-en7cn3ls8u The theme is the same but played differently. Listen to them back to back to back, FO3, 4, and NV. 3 is more militaristic and foreboding due to the heavier focus on the Brotherhood as a faction. New Vegas has more of a western twang to it due to the western style of the setting, being in Vegas and the Mojave. FO4's is more somber at first, shifting to a more hopeful note as it progresses. All three games share the same theme but do them in different styles. The Elder Scrolls games do the same thing with Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim having the same theme but in a different style: Morrowind's alien sounding theme fitting the strangeness of exploring Vvardenfell Island, Oblivion's grander sweeping score for the exploration of the capital province at the height of Imperial power, and the epic Nordic sounds and lyrics of Skyrim's version due to the player fulfilling an ancient Nordic prophecy and becoming a legendary warrior. As with Fallout, the music is the same in each game but the style and feeling is different in each entry.
@@HjkryanOG fallouts 1 and 2 did not have orcestra themes it was the 90's and Fallout was a side project with little resources that turned into a massive sucess. The music in fallouts 1 and 2 are just ambient. The NV theme might as well be the NCR's theme since it plays when you load up the game with an NCR ranger in their armor in the background.
This. THIS is how you do visual and audio nostalgia trip to gut punch a fan in the stomach. They didnt blow their load early when lucy first left the vault they held off for when we least expected it and combined both visual and audible nostalgia to give it the best impact. This is how you pander to fans right
I reminded and rewatched this scene just to hear the theme. It was honestly a good moment to put it in due to the series history and how important the NCR is for longtime fans.
When I saw this, that theme coming in with the flag just hacked straight into the deep memory banks in the back of my brain and made it come flooding back to me. 👌 Masterful fan service and respect for the source material. What an incredibly pleasant surprise this show was. Can’t wait for season 2.
They never did make the Fallout theme as a recurring theme in the show unlike other video game adaptations. So when it’s played you know it’s only for special moments and it just automatically gives you the chills
I was responding to a text and then I suddenly hear this playing so naturally I look over and then she's looking at a damn NCR flag! I got instant chills. This show really got the vibe of Fallout right
This scene genuinely made me tear up with emotion, as someone who's pretty much grown with the fallout games, hearing this theme in live action made me tearful with joy.
@@gravybate2283 They do kind of at least in the New Vegas but its just generic camp music, the sound here sounds more like New Vegas menu theme which kinda fits considering it was an NCR Ranger in the menu picture and portrait. Still I wished they use the original New Vegas theme instead.
@@fawazgerhard2742 The FO4 theme sounds a bit more "epic" and even in that game it was used to signify epic moments than some specific entity or character such as, if you remember, the entry of the Brotherhood of Steel into the Commonwealth.
It’s literally just a rendition of the main theme? The orchestration is more similar to F4 but it’s not like it’s literally ripped from the game files, it’s part of the new score made for the show
They held off so long that I almost thought they weren’t gonna use the main theme at all in the show. But when they did here, I got filled with goosebumps!
I only knew the NCR and fallout world through "Old World Blues", a Hoi4 mod. But when that flag was shown, I got hope. Hope, that the NCR still stands, and will return to life!
I can't accept that creators just destroyed the NCR like that! One of the most powerful factions in the history of Fallout, with lots of cities, laws, army, ideology! And creators just destroyed it in a blink of an eye! That's not right!
@@chacharealsmooth941 I don't think that's the right comparing. Destruction of the US is the basis of this universe, while development of NCR is a huge part of post war West. We saw this faction growing for 3 games! And after all of this they tell us that NCR was destroyed by one guy, by one single bomb?
@@gladiatorone9023 I guess that's appropriate to this universe. We know that there were at least some similar projects on a smaller scale that suffered the same fate.
@@gladiatorone9023 Makes sense to me, the NCR fell just the same as other fallout factions and pre-war nations. The entire theme of Fallout is that war never changes dude.
@@ScantaniouslyCombust it would make more sense, if NCR died during a war with worthy opponent, like the Legion. But no, NCR was just blown up by some random guy with a nuke! All this story about Vault-tech destroying developing societies, whole countries, makes every faction insignificant!
@@user-fl4ok4xr1f yea it's just the main theme for all the fallout games. But the theme presented here in the show is closer to the brooding, dark, militaristic version in fallout 3.
