oh great! I'm going to be doing a blog post on it soon with an added "fallen" angel wing shell that I just found over the weekend! I'll have that 4 wing comparison blog post up at www.floridabeachwalks.com/blog next week.
Seafoam is one of my favourite things ever! So much fun to take in the rainbows in the bubbles, and watch it drift, jiggle, and tumble. It isn't always white here because a lot of our beaches have red sand which makes the seafoam a peach or orange colour. Very rare that I see the bubbling, erupting, water like you showed. Usually in early spring when the ice under the sand melts leaving air pockets.
Loved the video. So many beautiful shells. You picked up all the shells I would have except for the Lucines. The Buttercups are so striking on the inside. The whiter the better. Thank you for the adventure can’t wait for the next one.
Oh I hope you get the chance...SO nice! You can actually camp there too but at the moment the campgrounds are closed and so is the south parking lot because they are restoring that area because of a lot of erosion.
I'll help you out! Those 2 shells at 3 min WERE tellins - alternate tellins! At least they looked like the ones on my side of the state.😊 I remember you said you've been to Honeymoon Island a while back. That's "my park"! The erosion has been so bad since Idalia last year that the island has been cut in half with a pass about halfway up. You can still cross but have to go through the water...😢 Some days I just don't want to get wet so my walks have been shortened significantly. Interesting about sea foam... I see it fairly regularly. Have never seen the bubbles. Very cool!! That was a mottled purse box crab carapace at 19 min - either bleached out or albino. They are beautiful. That's a beautiful island! Similar in it's natural state to Honeymoon. Thanks Roxanne! Perfect verse at the end!😊❤️
Thank you so much on the shell IDs! I will look those tellins up and make notes of that 👍🏼 thx about the crab carapace-so it “was” one, sweet! Man that is awful about Honeymoon Island! Knowing this makes me want to go check it out…maybe I’ll get a chance next year when my Ella is past 2yrs old and can be w/o me for an entire day-with all that walking I’d need to be kido free 🙃
I loved your lesson on seafoam, who knew! Looks like your hand is getting more and more tan..😂 thanks for the great beach walk, I live in St. Augustine and had no idea Little Talbet had so many shells, very cool..❤️
Nice! It was pretty cool learning about that! The end of Little Talbot has so many shells in the huge expansive dry sand area (flat dunes) pretty cool! Thx for watching and happy shelling!
So cool, I really enjoyed seeing the bubbling water 🌊 and learning about the different types of Angel Wings; I can't remember ever hearing that before. I did know about the protein in seafoam though...yep, I don't think I'll ever like it 😅 it makes my shoes stink if I try to walk through it, and it makes the rock pools extra dangerous over here!! Anyhoo, it was crazy to see it in your video. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
That is the only time I've ever seen the water do that, "like that," outside of your typical tiny pinholes in the swash zone being released with little bubbles! The air can get trapped several different ways upon being forced out excessively (including crab holes and even gas being released from decomposing 'stuff'...etc). The beach can get quite interesting for sure. ❤️🐚 I found a fallen angel wing over the weekend; so now I have 4 types...I plan to do a blog post on FBW website about the 4 different types. Thx for watching and have a good rest of your week Maddie.
oh my gosh all those little coquinas!!! they would be IN my bag! and those tiny clams, angle wings of all kinds. that is a heaven spot for me!!!! and the patterns on those jackknife clam shells! there was an imperial venus i could have grabbed also but hey i'm in colorado with not a shell in sight so i'm visiting in july and will live the dream for a couple of weeks! LOL
Very nice finds Roxanne & crew!! I think that shell was a ghost crab or spider crab?? Not positive but the eye area is what made me think those!! 😊 TTFN 👋🏼 ❤
I live in Jacksonville and I wish I had known you were visiting to give you some tips on good places to go. Did you get to go to Micklers Landing or any of the beaches in Ponte Vedra?
Oh nice! Feel free to email me any tips on Jacksonville! You can use the contact page on my website www.floridabeachwalks.com 👍🏼 No I haven’t been to the places mentioned here but will make a note of them. Thx for watching and the info Amanda. Glad you appreciate the verse shared. Blessings!
