Intellectually, I know that 'All good things must come to an end'. When I heard that Neal Adams had passed away, I first experienced shock. As I began to accept that he is no longer going to create beautiful paintings, I began to feel gratitude for the tremendous legacy he left for the fans of his art. My first overwhelming astonishment of his paintings is the cover of the first issue of "The Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu" (1974). Then I was amazed by the covers he painted for "Savage Tales" and "The Savage Sword of Conan" (1974). And then I was delighted to see the "Tarzan" paintings for Ballantine books, the black series (1975). After those examples of the heights his art is capable of attaining, Neal Adams has become my personal favorite artist. And like all the great artists before Neal Adams that I had considered brilliant artists such as: Frank Frazetta Michaelangelo Leonardo da Vinci Toulouse-Lautrec Neal Adams has joined those truly gifted artists.
Love how this channel is always bringing the creators. Unfortunately, there are many comic related FB pages and channels that prefer to talk about movies and video games.
Met the man twice... Second time I was just as nervous as the first, but he took the time to talk to me... while we talked I got to watch him inking a Deadman page... he’s a class act
An artist way before his time. If you go to his Uncanny X-Men run in the '50s he was doing art that didn't exist. He was the complete opposite of Jack Kirby whom everyone else was trying to emulate at the time. A true revolutionary!
Same here! Just recently picked up some Deadman issues and they were a blast. Its too bad we don't see more of the character. There is lots of potential to Boston Brand/Deadman.
Neal himself didn't upload this, but you know, I've never really seen comic art on an easel unless they're for like an exhibition. It's usually best to draw slanted at an angle, if you don't have a drafting table, grab a couple loose small planks and a piece of wood big enough for at least A3 sheets.
jonanjello I heard he can’t use a computer but respects them and employs them in his business with hires taking care of menial tasks under his very scrutinize direction
He is a great character that sadly doesn't show up very often. A super hero who is a ghost that can possess people and take control of their bodies. There is an issue where be takes over Batman's body and also teams up with him. Lots of fun!
Correction, Neal said there was 3 including himself, one of which passed away as of this recording. So that means only one remains... Who? I have no idea. But yeah, Neal Adams was one of the comic book greats!
Don't know, but doesn't matter. Find something you like. Go for whatever suits your pocket. You make the equipment work for you, not the other way around.
