39 and 40 years ago this hymn was played, in the church, at the funeral of my dear dad and dear mom When I heard the first notes, I was thrown back in time at a rapid pace. I saw myself in the front row again, head bowed deep, saddened by the great loss of which I,then,didn't realize how hard it would be to never see them again ..... never to be able to talk with them again.... Never again can ask advice or just tell something,........Never again......I dedicate this hymn to my beloved parents

As young boy I was fascinated by the titanic, read many books along with countless hours of research. The band continued to play until the very end until they couldn’t play anymore. Not just because of their pride, but because they chose their destiny to go together. A pure act of courage and bravery.

"Nearer, My God, to Thee" is a 19th-century Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams, which retells the story of Jacob's dream. Genesis 28:11-12. The hymn is usually sung to the 1856 tune "Bethany" by Lowell Mason.

Genesis 28: 12-13 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it stood the LORD, and he said: “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.

And so they lived happily together for 300 years... In the land of Tir Na Nog... Land of eternal youth and beauty.

We had this as the ‘walk-in’ song to my Mums funeral. She died as the UK went into its first lockdown. She’d had a procedure that had gone wrong, and it took her 9 days to die from a catalogue of errors. We weren’t allowed to see her due to COVID restrictions, but, on Day 5 she wrote in the notes section of her phone what she wanted playing at her funeral. She knew she was dying even though we had no idea. It KILLS me everytime I hear this now. Did she know we weren’t allowed to see her? Did she give up her fight because we couldn’t go? Did she think we didn’t care? The thought of knowing you’re dying and writing what songs you want when you’re completely alone and isolated breaks my heart. To the strongest woman I know 🖤
