Oklahoma shows the nation that it's running with the big dogs again after defeating #1 Nebraska and Heisman contender Eric Crouch in Norman. *(from Oct. 28th 2000)
I remember the Monday after this game, my 8th grade English teacher put on the chalkboard: "Nebraska 14, Oklahoma 31. It's hard to be humble when you're a SOONER!" So true. BOOMER!
the game that changed my life. i still remember exactly who i was standing screaming my ten year old head off next to. i miss that defense. they were great
Cannot believe the announcer jinxed Heupel with the "he hasn't thrown an interception in conference play.." Heupel should have been entitled to a free gut punch.
sorney98 would you rather Nebraska be back in the Big12 where they were relevant or just be where they are now? Which is probably less than a.500 record..
@@stevenwillow2525 haha yet we've seen could win the Big 10, I'm not worried just needed to adjust to recruiting since lost Texas some. But I'm happy where they are. Nebraska was the only one standing up to Texas but had enough of others not saying anything.
I was at this game. I was in the student section, about halfway up the stands around the 30 yard line. The whole place was going crazy, and there was not an orange to be had in Norman between the K-State game and the end of the semester.
I wish Oklahoma would have had the stones to keep scheduling this game every year when the Big XII was formed. Unfortionately Nebraska was on top and Oklahoma looked at it as a blessing. It would still be great to schedule this game like Clemson/So Carolina, Florida/Florida St, etc.
Nebraska really f***** up when they fired Frank solich they were winning 9-10 ball games a year it's not easy following a legend in Tom Osborne but they were still winning after they let go of Frank solich they have been mediocre every since.
John Manning I know and they had even made the national championship, they just ran into Miami that year and no one in the country was gonna beat them in the championship
@joebs333 No, I meant when the Big XII started. Nebraska and Oklahoma could have scheduled each other during a "non conference" slot. Oklahoma declined Nebraska's offer. Not that I blame them, Nebraska just won 3 championships in 4 years and Oklahoma was in a downward spiral. Since then things have flip flopped. We will miss vast long tradition of the Big XII, all 15 years. The ship was sinking and Nebraska was the first one to abandon ship. Colorado followed and now A&M is out the door.
@ROMEYYOUROCK It had nothing to do with Oklahoma or Nebraska's scheduling. Since 1996 when the Big 12 formed the South team's North oponents rotate every 2 years and visa versa. That's just conference rules. I wished they played every year also. Now it's gone for good, unless they meet this year in the Big 12 Championship.
@bbender1986 Sounds like you need to do your homework. Last year was a very rare occurrence due to so many injuries. Nebraska is probably actually glad they're escaping the Big 12 so they won't have to play OU again. If you will do a little research on recent past schedules I think you know what usually happens. BOOMER SOONER! Nebraska is getting back but don't get too cocky.
@soonerscott2007 You have at least 3 slots open for nonconferense games. They could have schedule the game each year. They could still do it. It will be sad not to play oklahoma, kansas and iowa st each year.
@ThunderSooner2835 Yeah! I'm happy and a little mad about that. The only way Nebraska and Oklahoma play this season is in the Big 12 Championship Game. Which will most likely happen (knock on wood...) Go Huskers!
@joebs333 Oklahoma and Nebraska could have schedule whoever they wish outside of the conference schedule. Nebraska offered to keep rivalry going but Oklahoma declined. Being a Nebraska fan I will miss playing most of the original Big 8 teams, especially Oklahoma. It's nothing to do with a better chance of winning. It's all about dollars and cents.
ROMEYYOUROCK What in the hell are you talking about? You can't schedule extra conference games as non conference games. How would you even count the game? Name me one case where two teams from the same conference play each other in an extra non conference game. I'll wait...
@soonerscott2007 How recent? I'm sure you just want to look at the last 6 games when Nebraska was at its worst. Last 10 years, Nebraska 2 - Oklahoma 5, Last 10 before that, Nebraska 8 - Oklahoma 1.
ROMEYYOUROCK: Recently is what counts the most but if we're going to go back we might as well go all the way. You're acting like OU didn't own Nebraska pretty much every decade before the 90's as well as after. The nice stretch Nebraska had that you pointed out was the only one.
@bbender1986 Oh yeah is that why Nebraska left the Big 12, we won half the conference championships 7 out of 14. All the rest of the bottom feeders own 1 or 2.
@alexhp91 Yeah and OU realized the Pac 10 didn't want them they bowed down to Texas. The Big XII needs Nebraska to remain relevent. Have fun beating up on ISU, Kansas, and Kansas State, chump. It was be bitter sweet kicking oklahoma ass one more time in the Big XII championship game this year.
