The National Electrical Code (NEC) continues to enhance safety requirements related to Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs). These devices are crucial for providing electrical shock protection. In this video, Tom Domitrovich, Director of Eaton’s Codes and Standards Center of Excellence, illustrates the key points about safety requirements in the 2023 NEC.
Tom brings an insider perspective to the NEC discussion though his participation on NFPA Code Making Panels 2 and 10 for the continued development of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).
In this video, you’ll learn about:
• How the 2023 NEC builds upon existing GFCI requirements, ensuring broader safety coverage
• How GFCIs save lives
• New types of GFCIs, including special-purpose GFCIs
• How to choose the appropriate GFCI device for specific jobs
• The difference between GFCI receptacles and GFCI outlets
• Hazards related to appliances addressed in NEC 210.8 (A), (B), (D), and (F)

This is very good information. I’m not an electrician, but it’s very good information. Thanks..

I bet if you really tried, you could have made this more convoluted and confusing than it was.

Feels more like a money grab than for safety reasons. If they trip too much like early AFCI the home owner shall remove them from these expanded locations.

U can,t fool proof the world from someone doing stupid things . I am a electrician. been in the trade since 1978. Just because some companies might sit on the NEC code making panel and can get them into the NEC code . sometimes it is just a money maker for some.

So since it applies to homes. what about at a commerical building. so at home , the home owner is a dummy , yet gets to the job, he is very smart.
