I have both the Hot toys and Neca ED 209 and in some ways I think the Neca looks more accurate to ED from the movie. Absolutely love this figure.

Yeah its a hard one to mess with because there's parts to the figure that keep feeling like that shouldn't really move to them even though you know they can. its initially a lot of moving and praying that nothing breaks on him

There could be more articulation, it doesn't look like the knee joints bend at all and they should. I had a pretty cool toy from the 1990s, one of the Exo Squad toys, a power armor, the articulation on it was pretty cool, they had fake hydraulics at the knee joints and when you'd bend the knee the hydraulic pistons would slide in and out of one another, I'd really like to see that on this ED-209 with it's overkill 4 hydraulic pistons on each leg. There should also be more articulation with the feet and toes.

you think there should be more articulation? I thought that too but thought that might add to the engineering costs of him and make him more expensive plus there would be a lot more that could break to him if he was moved or bent carelessly

Love my NECA Ed-209. Just found a great Robocop 2/Cain, just wish it was bigger. Also got myself that same Robocop. They put some great details on them.

I have three ED 209 versions: The original 90’s version that uses the roller caps, the super 7 ED 209 vs Mr. Kinney and the Hiya toys ED 209, all of them look great. From the Robocop series ED 209 is my favorite villain 😎🤙

The cowl is a massive speaker, apparently. That’s why it’s textured the way it is. They reveal this in RoboCop: Rogue City.

Just ordered mine off Amazon. Amazing quality detail, with my only complaint being that the three "toes" aren't articulated. (Loved that last little twitch of the "toe" as it died the first time.)

I feel kinda bad for ED 209. He wasn't the bad guy. He was a malfunctioning that needed upgrades to function properly.

Hot Toys have better looking sculpt and features on their ED but yeah I agree the audio on Hot Toys is way too muffled for it being the price it was going for

As a stopmotion animator do you think this would be a great figure for stopmotion I really like the figure it looks really great and a lil fun fact that Ed was completely stopmotion as well if I ever see this In stores I’ll definitely pick it up

Looks like it isn't the best for stop-motion, Raptor. Very limited articulation. I found one in the wild at Target for $91. I may return it, before opening it, after watching a few more reviews. We'll see. I might see what the Hiya ED 209's articulation is like.

@@raptoranimations2857 If I get the Hiya ED 209, it will definitely be the non-battle damaged one. It looks similar and its articulation is similar to that of the NECA ED 209, but it has a little bit of toe articulation and it seems to be able to look downward more. Also, the two flaps above the arms swing up higher. I may keep the NECA ED 209 and also get a Hiya, possibly substituting models, depending on the needs of the animation moves in each camera angle.

@@raptoranimations2857 Dang! I was just looking at a review of the large 2nd Edition Hot Toys ED 209! It has the most articulation of the three, including the best articulation in the mid leg ankle point. The NECA and the Hiya just swivel. The Hot Toys version actually bends and swivels! Unfortunately, the price tag on eBay seems to be $600 and up! Ahhh shucks!

He's ment as a deterrent, defense and intimidation mostly. He's not an officer, more of a guard that can and will unleash some serious damage if necessary.

It can't. The robot wasn't built for law enforcement, it was a military droid. Dick Jones just tried to repurpose it as a cop, despite ED-209 being completely unsuitable for the job.

I would say if you're limited on space this one is the better option, never spent the money on the Hot Toys one for that reason of having the rubber prone to splitting and cracking on the dome

That's the entire point. Everything about ED-209 is intentionally a heavily flawed design. It cannot walk up/down stairs, it's only response to all criminals is to a) issue a warning, and then b) kill them. Even if they were just parked illegally. It's a parody of corporate America.
