Thank u so much for your break down on the tension asembly! I love this old machine but it hasn't been used much so getting it back in tip top shape is what I need. The needle won't change positions and the bobbin doesn't wind and it doesn't zig zag.
Hello I just received a Necchi Supernova Julia and love the video on cleaning the wheel. Can you tell me where I can buy the Cam attachment Case I did not get that from the previous owner.
@Janice Booker Hello, thank you very much for your interest, unfortunately you can no longer buy the accessories. You have to try to find a used one. Since you do not have a manual, you cannot know whether everything is complete according to the list.
I have a Supernova and wanted the permanent cam with three lobes for multi-point zig zag. I couldn't locate one individually. I got a good deal on a set of 14 permanent cams for a Jjulia with the cam I wanted. I used my lathe and reduced that boss to the appropriate height and ended up with 8 additional cams for my machine. Two cams have the white insert with only the round hole. I could machine them and make a part to adapt them, but won't for now. Effort versus payoff says no. Three of the cams matched my existing Supernova cams. The last was the buttonhole with the wire bail and no handle. Nothing to be done there.
Thanks for this video. I see three metal followers that is controlled by exchangeable cams. What do each lever control? If you do ordinary zig zag stitching, are one of the cams used to control that, or do the machines got a separate cam, that controls the zig zag movement?
Hello, the machine sews the Zigzag without the "cams" ... A metal backdrop is built into the mechanics for control purposes. In addition, automatic stitches can be created with the "cams", although there is not necessarily always 3 pieces in a group. The upper small lever of the mechanism sets the needle position, the middle lever controls the Zigzag width, the bottom one controls the transport (also backwards). From Supernova Ultra Mark 2 and Lycia / Julia, the ratio of forward and backward transport of the fabric can also be influenced while decorative stitches are created. The automatic mode can also be set at different speeds in relation to the number of stitches. In my opinion, they are the best machines from that time. Regards.
@@necchi-pavia Thank you very much for this detailed information. Yes, it seems to be very versitile mechanics. I got a Singer 237, that is a side loaded zig zag machine as well, but no other cams. It do have some slack in the zig zag mechanics, and it was hard to reduce significantly by adjustments. Slack can make problems for sewing stretch fabrics. But I guess, that Necchi was better to reduce slack in mechanics than Singer was. This is a video about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fjjmTxNDkgw.html
@@sewingmachinesindetail Thanks, the link dosen't work? However please watch my latest upload to see the Zig Zag mechanics in a Lycia 522, they are similar to all the "Supernova" series.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Lj4YGHocZM.html Thank you.
It is strange, if my link do not work - I can click on it from here, and it works. It is the latest video on my channel. I shall comment on your other video there - thanks.
Your English is a lot better than some of the telephone answering personelle for cellphone activations. Pat yourself on the back. You have some good information. I'll need that if and when I can find another cam box and cams for my Mother's NECCHI, that my grandson did SOMETHING with. Thanks again. Bill, from Tn. 🇺🇸
Hello, since I don't own a type 555, I can't compare, but on the pictures that can be found on the internet it looks like it would be the same. Unfortunately, I can't make a definitive statement on this...
Got a SuperNova and a 555 what is the difference on cams. You showed the sister machines of Julia, but my 555 is not listed but it has the same front as the Julia
As far as I know the 555 Modell was not in the offer in Europe. Till today haven't see this machine in real (I am searching every day for vintage NECCHI across Europe to build up a collection) So I can't give a binding statement, what type of cams fit here... 🤔 I think, that the Julia 534 and the 555 uses the same cams disign. They look the same...
Hello, I am looking for a strap for my supernova julia sewing machine but I do not know the dimensions, would you know about dimensions or a site or I could buy, thank you
Alaika974run Hello , strap ? Transmission belt is it this? I know only the metric Dimension we used here in Europe. Size is 5 x 330 Li (Germany Definition) ...
Thanks. This was helpful. I am attempting to rebuild the cam mechanism on my Julia. It is a big job and is turning out to be very difficult. Do you do rebuilds or know of anyone who does? I’m located in Sa Antonio Texas.
Laura Herndon Hi I'm located in Bavaria Germany. The cam drive of an Julia is an special thing. Permanent driven whit gear ratio 10:1 If you remove the mechanism it will be impossible to find the the basic setting. For adjustment you also need the cam for bottom holes. Here in Germany I don't find any service that figure out the settings. I'm rebuild some vintage Julia's and Lycia, but never took out the cam drive. I'm also search for any information to get them fixed. Regular Supernova are easy to handle, in setting and adjusting. The Julia and Lycia are Masterpieces in mechanical funktion.
What’s your email? I think I may have found someone who can help. It’s been like searching for a needle in a haystack. I’m going to be contacting them this morning.
J.A no worries. I understand, keeping your privacy is important. This guy only does the cam mechanism work as a hobby, so he doesn’t want everyone contacting him about rebuilding them.
Laura Herndon The rebuilding is not difficult, I have a Supernova free arm (automatica c) and I replace the cam drive. At least the machine run a a new one. The Julia mechanism is a gear driven device and the ratio will be exactly adjust to needle bar position and Zig zag movement. The spring clutch in the mechanism simular to the Supernova series, allows the ratio setting that drive the cams per axle. The cams whit the nose at the bottom are specified Julia and Lycia attachments, for permanently driven cam mechanism. If this guy can set the timing in correct way so he can help you by repair your Julia. My machines work fine an I have no necessary to rebuilt the cam mechanism. (Julia & Lycia)...
Unfortunately I don't have a Nora. On the pictures on the internet it looks like the cams are different. The mechanism is also different, so I come to the conclusion that it doesn't fit together ...
Hi. Both machines are great in mechanical design and engineering. If you can get a supernova ultra mark 2 as an freearm, then you have in my opinion the best vintage necchi ever build. All Vintage NECCHI are durable for a long time, if the machine is refurbished. The Lycia uses a plastic cam profile inside for the feed dog to transport the fabrics. This is the main difference between Lycia and Supernova regarding durability....
Thank you, I was able to buy a Lycia 524 in good condition. However, the zizzag is frozen. I have been using a usa product "blue creeper" and some ballistol, but am not sure what I am doing. can you show or tell me how and where to apply ballistol to unstick the zigzag mechanism? Also could you provide a step by step video how you go about opening the major parts of the Lycia to access the internal parts that require lubrication... assuming that the machine is in basic working order... i.e. is synchronized but maybe zz stuck, and feed-dogs won't drop... disorders common on machines that have been sitting for 10 years or more.
I notice that you located in Bavaria. I have friends from near Klingenburg, are you by any chance from that part of Bavaria? I know that the freistat is quite large. Thank you again for all your interesting videos.
I prefer the Supernova ultra free arm version. The older NECCHIs are more careful processed. The Lycia is all in all not durable as an Supernova, and the cam drive is an specialized thing that maintraince is very difficult to handle.
@@paleodictyoptera Please don't try to remove the cam drive mechanism at the Lycia / Julia (identical)!!!! Yuo will never find the correct timing again whitout an detailed Instruktion, cause they are permanent driven whit ratio 1:10.... Remember that.
