I always feel like these guys bordered more with proto black metal instead of thrash. Like the drums have an intentional delay at times and for example track: 17:50 the drum cadence is something you would expect from a Goatlord album.
I always felt that they were never pure death metal. They had a weird mix of death, thrash, and some doomy parts too. Especially in the later releases.
You're slicing it up too finely. Back in the day, everything heavier than Judas Priest was just "thrash," and that applied to everybody from Slayer to King Diamond to Napalm Death. I didn't even run across the term "death metal" until 1990 in an ad for Deicide's first album!
