"Have a little think, what do you really need?" That line should be posted on the webpage of every plugin developer. Like the guys said, it's a fine piece of software, but do I NEED it".
Pretty pricey but still cheaper than the Softube, whether on sale or not. Gonna add this one to my black friday list. I love what this does on bass. Still waiting on Korneff's WoW!
It's ironic that a show called "Is It Shit" is a breath of fresh air. I never get the feeling that you guys are eager (or even willing) to blow hot air up our asses. You are a witty, charming, and remarkably handsome lot. Thank you for being the better alternative to Mr. Snooty Pants (need I say more?).
Cranesong Phoenix recently got released for use on all DAWs. I know a lot of top producers (some I know well) swear by it. I’m price alone I can image your review but would love to hear your views on it. They offer a demo of 30 days to try it out.
So we need to pay incrementally more for Plugins that are demonstrably better. That seems reasonable eh. A developer makes a new plug, buyers pay for how much better it is than the last one they bought.
I can't imagine paying £60 for a compressor plugin these days. That just seems crazy, it's not like there's a deficit of LA2A or derivative type plugins for free or so, or that come with decent everyday DAW's. Softube are insanely overpriced as well. They're not shit and not revelatory, they're just way overpriced and for me, those days are long, long gone. No clients are coming to me asking for a Kiive or Softube plugin, absolutely none. I get clients asking for actual U87's, U67's, UAD 6176, Neve 1073's, LA2A's, CL1B'S but even then, that's fairly rare these days too, but I still get that often enough. I, nor any artist I've worked with, have ever heard the general paying public who buys and consumes music, ever mention or care about what gear is used, which is interesting when I hear not so great mixes, they just don't care and they sell quite a bit and do well. A good song with a bad mix will sell, so, who in their right mind is going to pay £60 for a cl1b knock off plugin? Yeah, I know who 🙂
