For me it was the switching between cop cars in Hot Pursuit mode. Then you could increase the cop car quantity from 5 to 8 or 10 with a little modding. Excellent fun

What you mean about real? Every NFS are real, High Stakes improved what Hot Pursuit did before.

I meant REAL NFS as the standard was defined then for the genre. NFS High Stakes introduced these state of the art mechanics. Even though they weren't brand new, Carmageddon Carpocalypse had them a year before but they didn't make such an impression. The other NFSs just to Most Wanted were also REAL in terms of how the pleasure of playing them was obtained. The handling was quirqy and got quirqier with every installment (by Porsche being the most infamous for it's handling) but you could eventually get used to how the cars drive and you could refine your driving technique with a simple keyboard. But everything that came after the PRO STREET / SHIFT era was sh!t. PRO STREET was the most realistical imho with SHIFT very close but the others like HEAT, PAYBACK, UNDERCOVER, the other MOST WANTED.... all bullocks. "Action Driving" they say. It is absolutely impossible to handle any car at 200+ mph as every installment after 2010 did... It's not arcadosim anymore, it's just fantasy arcade and it sucks. It has taken away all the driving pleasure. Cheers.

@@mirceadimian4048 Not every arcade game would follow the simcade formula, not even the old NFS games have sense since you can still do turns at 200+ MPH on sharp corners, the handling is not impossible to handle after Hot Pursuit 2010, they are similar to Burnout physics.

Wrong, not only supercars, the 90s games featured sedans, sports coupes too. The open world from the later NFS games was not tiny, not every tuning are ugly and not every of them had bad music like Unbound.

I agree the best era (racing games focused on the beauty of exotic cars (not just how you can mod them), and the wonderful scenery this world has to offer), but the series would grow stale if that's all it did. NFS UG 1 & 2 are great. Pro-Sreet was great at what it set out to accomplish. The problem nowadays is all NFS are basically the same - street tuning in uninteresting cities with a lame story no one cares about, filled with annoying, stereotypical teenager characters who talk too much. NFS pre-2010ish were making varied games which is great, even if some of them weren't to your liking.

@@hrthrhs The 90s era was very focused on the serious automobile scenary, Lemans, DTM, Formula 1, GT1, JGTC, Touring races. I liked the 2000s, but the 90s got the magic feel that is not present anymore.

In the PS1 version of High Stakes, the car understeer if you walk to the snow and grass.

Also would be too much but lovely see the special patrols car of each track, like the lambo lm002, the old Caprice o the different paint style, i know that is much but this can be a gigantic tribute to old Nfs, i remember Misty peaks and that would be Nice track in modern graphics!
