The animations are surprisingly great for something you're not meant to see up close. All it needs is some higher polygon assets and higher res textures.
I feel like originally there was supposed to be a cockpit view, because the wing mirrors have working reflections, and they even bothered to add in speedometers on the dash.
It's been a while since I worked on this now. What I remember was doing most of the work in Cheat Engine. I'd do very generic searches for values that would correspond to camera coordinates. Once I found camera coordinates, I'd search for assembly code that writes to it. And the next step was the most tedious step, which was reading through relevant assembly code to figure out where exactly it reads the cockpit camera offsets.
I know is late to ask and probably you are busy, but if possible can you make it so we can adjust camera while being in the game with set keys? For cinematic reasons , i wanna take shots like camera going side to side or back and forward while driving
Unfortunately, no. I was considering implementing a system where the trainer detects the car the player is using and then automatically adjusting the offsets based on a pre-defined list, but that would be a ton of work overall. I've been adjusting offsets on the fly as I'm doing different events and I didn't find that too bothersome.
Haven’t tried this yet but does it hide the driver’s head? Is it possible to implement if it doesn’t? I remember NFS MW’s camera mod allowed toggling the windows and stuff.
No, this doesn't hide the driver's head. You'll have to adjust the camera so it's ahead of the player model, and even then, it might clip through the camera when bumping into things. It would be nice to fix, but I can't think of a good way to approach the problem, and I'd rather work on other projects anyway.
Sorry, forgot to reply to this. I'm pretty sure the character model used for the player car is the same model used in AI cars, so most methods for making most or all the character model invisible would result in the same change in other cars, and that wouldn't be ideal. I think this would be a pretty tough problem to solve without access to the game's source code.
