Was honestly impressed when I first played it. Most DS racing games were horrible, but ProStreet worked really well. The only other two DS racers that come to mind are Mario Kart DS and Trackmania Turbo
Something weird that was never fixed unless you download patches that fix bugs, is that the Plymouth Road Runner has a bug where no matter what forced induction you pick, the game will take your money but not add the actual part to the car.
I think you should play the game again without choosing the free cars. They're free bcs they are part of a patch, that included some bugfixes, those cars, and some extra Race days. The actual thing is to get the complete vibe of the game to have a geniune critic, but i think that getting cars like the Carrera GT from the very first racedays, screws it up.
Its sad how this one of the first games to mark Blackboxs downfall. EA milked them to pump out a new NFS that rivals the success of Most Wanted every single year. When they complained, they got split up into two teams and gave each of them two years... And after Pro Street wasnt well received due to the technical issues and lacking content, EA said "dont worry guys, its just a small spin off, Undercover will be real deal, we promise" - which was BS, because of how much stuff they did behind the scenes to make Pro Street great. They had to upgrade the engine for the newer graphics, sounds and more accurate driving model. They recorded every single car to have real sound effects (and finally the correct engine sounds) and, if I remember right, test drove most of them.
ProStreet is actually pretty fun, racing as Ryan Cooper to beat the shit out of Ryo. I finished the complete gameplay, but somehow my entire saved games data (basically this game and other games) was gone due to the lag because of Pro Street 😭. Idk why this happened though? But anyways my PSN Trophies were still there luckily. But still I do rate Pro Street for RYAN COOPER and how I like grip races, drift events and drag races. But I don’t kinda like one of the hardest top speed races and speed challenges in urban environments. The reasons for that the physics is kinda dodgy lol and it wasted my vehicle lol. But I agree with you about what you said entirely about this 2007 NFS Pro Street.
If the pog react was a racing game, it would be Pro Street. If the AI wasn't so bad (especially the bosses) and the handling wasn't so twitchy, it would easily be an S-tier game
I didnt like the part of the game where you had to have one car for one race type, so instead of having 4 different cars I decided to use only rear wheel drive (so drift and wheelies would be possible) and would literally copy paste that one car onto each race mode (would own literally 4 of the same RX7s for example)...
Yeah, I never really liked how that worked. But what was cool about it was you'd get of the following cars they loaned you in order for you to participate in said race day.
When I dug through the files to try modding it, I noticed there was a set of code relating to "adaptive difficulty" Messing with it did nothing but I'm curious if there's been an explanation regarding AI behavior in PS and UC and why they would sometimes rubberband quite a bit.
Honestly, when I played undercover, I didn't notice alot of rubber banding. I only noticed it in specific situations. The cop takedown races for example, those dudes would be able to keep up with you for a couple seconds before you gain distance on them. Prostreet on the other hand is alot different cause AI would be able to keep up with you for a tad bit longer imo.
Yeah it's probably placebo and there's some other thing going on. If you don't notice it either then there's probably more going on under the hood. Regardless, good job on the video. We're eating good lately with all the car game content coming around.

personally I don't believe ProStreet isn't the last good EABB Studio game. i do agree that Undercover is a shit show but after Undercover they made The Run. it's the shortest game in the whole NFS franchise but it's significantly better than Undercover
3:09 i'd argue Hot Pursuit, The Run, Rivals and maybe even Payback, Heat and Unbound were good. If you just ignore the story in these last three, they are good, and Payback's microtransactions aren't really necessary for progression, it's not a pay to win game
Speed challenges sense of speed is what most Midnight Wangan, No Hesi player wanted to feel, but with traffic on. This is also the reason hinders the sense of speed. If I choose a illegal street racing full of cars that test the driver's skill vs an empty road where you just keep the pedal to the metal and reach the driver's and the car's limit, I'll rather choose the second one.

never played this but it does have similarities to shift which i played a lot. actually shift is propably my favorite nfs even got it for PC recently since i wanted to play it again.
Oh yeah for sure! Although shift was developed by slightly mad studios, the people who made project cars, it still held some sort of vibe to what prostreet was.
