@2:42 no, the Vita beat everybody to the punch. The Vita 1000 series had a OLED screen. But one thing Sony said was the Portal eventually will have cloud streaming which id perfect for the Portal, this is one of the things I want from the Portal. Also the ability to change the resolution for a better connection.

God I’m tired of trying to explain this but here I go again it’s not about the speed it’s about the wifi coverage. The Portal only needs 15mb down and 5mb up to work that’s a very slow internet speed you don’t need wifi 6 it’s not about how fast the speeds are. People that are having issues with this thing probably have there internet setup all wrong probably using the 2.4ghz band that’s is sensitive to cross talk you really want to be on a 5ghz band. I bet you a lot are using there service providers modem with the built in wifi that they got shoved behind there couch or in a media cabinet. When you set everything up properly the Portal work absolutely flawless I have had none of the issue you all keep complaining about. Look into your own set up and clean it up upgrade it if you have to the Portal is not the problem it’s your dam internet setup.

For me to get it, I need them to make it to fly solo without having to link ot to the ps5. I had a storm at home & I was away.. power flashed & since I had my ps5 in rest mode, I couldn't play my portal abroad. Entire useless to have then

I’m not sure if making a new portal is the option. It’s basically a glorified controller not a system. I think it’s great for exactly what it’s meant for. Bluetooth is redundant if you want it for audio you can use a Bluetooth dongle in the aux jack. It also has speakers. I think the keyboard would be a perfect addition. It would benefit them to have a small cloud of small games that can run anywhere remotely or strait from a server. Otherwise I’m just trying to find games that are worth having the slight lag. Regardless of how good the WiFi you have is there is going to be a delay from your screen to the PlayStation. Works as smooth as any controller if your holding it looking at the tv but slightly behind on screen. So maybe I just need to find the right game or maybe it’s just not the best for some online games.

CKid at that point based on everything you’ve said overall, Sony may as well just go down the Nintendo Switch route and just give people a PlayStation version of that. Not that I think they won’t mind because Sony interactive entertainment Japan is borderline non-existent and they wanted to take the PlayStation brand and give it a more western feel. Just my opinions because otherwise you’re gonna see (potentially) PSVR situation where the cost will be just as much as a console anyway. Not to mention the fact that Sony have already proven that they can’t support more than one device that they have in the gaming space on the market, again see the PSVR2.

Why would you want to connect a controller to a "Controller Screen device". Makes no sense. It's not like the Switch where you need to Dock it and then use your Bluetooth controller. No need for a Web Browser, use your phone/tablet to do this. It's not a Vita/PSP. Paddles on the back is niche for people. They can be annoying for the majority of people that own a PS5 Controller. I agree with Joysticks size (also maybe fix that notch issue as well). Allow a usb to ethernet adapter option for better streaming. The other stuff I agree on.

Great video!. I think that for keeping the cost to 199 is why there is no OLED , wifi 6 Bluetooth etc. adding everything will make the portal into something like a modern vita and that didn't go well. This thing is simple, amazing, cost effective...makes sense for Sony and for us. Plus, theres a headphone jack! Everyone always wishes there would be a headphone jack. We got one:)

I think the one thing that you should try that might help you out is to not enable the HDMI it help me because the PS five can’t render two video signals at the same time very easily. My suggestion is you try it see if it helps.

To be honest the existing screen is very good - an OLED is not needed for playing games on the screen of that size. It would be overkill and push the price up but there’s plenty of suckers out there with more money than sense and so I can see it happening.

Out of this whole list, all we REALLY NEED is cloud gaming. That's the thing that won't affect the price of the current device and they won't need to release another. Plus, the biggest benefit there is to Sony as a business. Maybe they have to redo the current pricing structure of cloud gaming or improve their cloud gaming servers. But adding cloud gaming to the Portal would be a game changer for the device, and PS+, for sure

Well I can tell you for sure on my ROG Ally X I watch Netflix on it all the time. So it's dumb to watch the same content on a Portal...but not dumb to watch Netflix on a smartphone, tablet, TV, laptop...etc...what's the difference they all are the same screens...but okay 👌🏾

Everybody comparing this to the steam deck and Rog ally really missed the point. This is $200. The deck is $500 and the rog is 6-700. The portal is a fantastic and cheap option for anyone with good wi-if. It doesn’t break the bank and it scratches that gaming itch when you can’t just get on your console. Quit asking for OLED display and SSD’s unless you’re ready to pay $600 for one.

I have to disagree with you all but three of your points. The fact that it doesn't support cloud gaming is really strange that can be added with a software update and would enhance the Portal greatly, and the smaller joysticks is also a letdown that needs to be fixed. A nice first party carrying case would also be nice, but it should be an accessory not included (not everybody would need/want this). The other stuff are just not needed for this device. For bandwidth this device needs Wifi 6 or 7 would be overkill. OLED is nice but also not needed for this small device. Regarding bluetooth, I think Sony didn't include it was because of latency. If Sony had included it people would complain about the latency, especially with the headsets that don't have aptX LE or aptX adaptive. This thing doesn't need a browser or the ability to use other apps. Use your phone or tablet for that, which is what is it designed to do. The PS Portal is designed for remote gaming, let it shine doing that. However there is one addition that I feel I would like to see, a 4G/5G cellular option. That would remove the need to tether to your phone and would add much to it.

The PlayStation Portal is better. The only thing the Nintendo Switch has over the PlayStation Portal is Bluetooth. But honestly, my Nintendo didn’t have Bluetooth when I first got it. Nintendo pushed an update to add Bluetooth. I am pretty sure PlayStation will do the same for the Portal.

Late to RDR2. Half way through the game on the portal 😂. Tbh i dont notice the lag or input delay 🤔. Their are hiccups tho and you cant miss them bcause ill think to myself "aw man here we go" followed by ok ok now we're good 😂. Its just to easy to pick up and play anywhere around the house. If ya ask me the portal is 🔥. Mannnn I knew EXACTLY what it did and didnt do and i still pre ordered it. Maybe thats why im not disappointed with the portal 🤷🏻‍♂️

PlayStation supporters need to stop buying Half assed products like this. I’ve watched all your videos on this device and it’s not even 50 50 good to bad. My gf pre ordered the portal and I did enjoy it for ps2-3 games. But everything ps4-5 was choppy at best. I sold it for a base level steam deck and I do not regret it. Short battery life but at least I get 4-6 hours and do not have to depend on amazing WiFi. I didn’t want to sell the portal. I tried my hardest to keep it but even how Sony was updating and not being clear with future updates was pissing me off. We’re your consumer. We bought your product. Why do you not give us 100% transparency? And if we go back to when they were creating this contraption. We were asking for a competitor to the steam deck, Rog, or at the very least the switch. I guarantee this would’ve been wayyyyyy more successful if the took an extra year or two to actually make an add on system.

Better WiFi connectivity- constant lag spikes, rubberbanding and low quality visuals Better Pulse elite connectivity- it constantly disconnects and I get high pitched buzzing from time to time OLED Screen- they’re cheap and they’re the best available More functionality- it’s just a screen mirroring device and it barely handles that I definitely regret buying this and the Pulse Elites. It’s like they’re not even trying. Figure it out Sony!

Hello, I'm a new subscriber! I just saw your PS5 Slim videos of having it 24 hrs and 1 month. I was wondering if you will be making another update about it on how game performance is going and how much dust has collected over time. I'm thinking about trading mine OG PS5 for the Slim since it's smaller to fit on my gaming setup and if something was to happen with the disc drive, I can easily replace it without having to replace the whole thing. Bro ever since I moved into my new house on stronger wifi my portal won’t stay connected for long. It’ll connect for like 10 minutes giving choppy gameplay then disconnects from my PS5. I tried contacting my internet provider to turn off ipv6 but he told they already have it off 🤦🏽‍♂️

Streaming tv/movies or music off your ps5 to another device will never happen, because it makes it easier to pirate media off another device, they have have drm stuff they can program at the app and hardware level to block people from recording but if you had it running on something they can’t touch externally it would be easier for people to make a copy. That’s been the case since ps3.

Cloud gaming is the only reason why I didn't buy this device. It doesn't make sense to have the portal and my PS5 in one house if I can't travel with it. And even if they did add cloud gaming it's far from perfect with the internet connection.

I don't have any stuttering or other ploblems. I have everything on default, also on my PS5. I played Cyberpunk etc. without any issues

i returned mine the fps stuttering ruined it for me meanwhile my pixel 8 pro ps5 streaming is working perfect without anything.

Portal Edge at extra cost could have paddels and OLED but no need to people who use normal controllers and thats 99% of us.

I really reallyyy hope they add a "pro controller" mode/model along with the custom paddles on the back. Being able to use the device solely as a controller where the screen is used to navigate the dashboard/apps (Voice Chat, Messages, Browser, etc) would be a game changer imo. While it would compete w/ their current pro controller, it could justify a higher price.

So you want to use it solely as a controller, but a controller with a massive screen in the middle of it so u can navigate the dashboard? Navigating a PS5 menu is about as simple as it gets.

Now you gotta spend almost a 1000 bucks for the pro with WiFi 7 just to get a better experience 😂 so if you’re going off sales it did ok. experience is 🗑️ the product suck they ate good off the fools that bought it and don’t even use it 😂
