Just don’t know how this didn’t become a monster hit. Never heard it on the radio in any genre. Seems like the perfect song with the perfect singers for a commercial success.
Incredibly well said…I’ve noticed that sometimes a song will fall short commercially because it is “too good”. I know that sounds ridiculous, but most successful large artists hits are usually the easiest to digest from their catalog…although I think this is a top 20 performance ever on television and fantastic song craftsmanship…it can be a lot to digest for an average, passive listener.

The thing I remember about when Carrie did this duet with this band, is that the female member of this band stay in the background; She knew she had no chance of staying with Carrie, so she decided not to try to do it. Which is smart.
Interesting part about this so ng, is that this group has a female backup singer and she politely stays in the background. Carrie doesn't like that to happen. But Carrie doesn't realize that backup female singers don't want to compete against Carrie. Carrie has power to spare.
