Ah yes. "I got a puppy and did no research on how to care for a puppy, therefore he's a horrible dog!" People never see their own failures in what to expect. This is the calmest pitbull/American bulldog puppy I have ever seen. He's so sweet. He's just a scared baby who has not been socialized at all. Poor dog.

Here’s the thing though, she realized she was going about things the wrong way and that what she was doing wasn’t working for them, and made the decision to get a trainer. That’s a responsible owner. She needed help, and that’s okay, everyone starts somewhere, and from that she got a lot more insight on how to properly go about things. Don’t shame someone for learning.

What a great family to ask for help while he was so young! He's sweet and calm now, but from experience I've seen that clingy dogs can become SUPER anxious and obnoxious if not treated to socialize early on. It's great that Victoria has built up her business that she can work with open families who just want to help their pups rather than the more toxic ones she used to work with in earlier years.

Totally agree. Victoria is the best. I had a puppy just like this but maybe even worse. We worked really hard at socializing in an attempt to build her confidence in the world but because she was so fearful, and we forced too much too soon, it ended up making her more anxious. 2 years later we are still working on confidence but are much more knowledgeable and capable. But it's so much work to try and undo your mistakes. Building confidence and foundational skills (like teaching them their name) are so much more important than obedience and what people traditionally think if as socializing. This is so great that this family learned these things so early on. They would have ended up with a very anxious dog otherwise. And I know first hand how difficult that is, especially when you know you contributed to the problem (before you knew better of course)

All these people on here commenting about how this family did no research. The pets on this show are scheduled months before filming, there is a long vetting process and setup before Victoria comes out. This family likely called Victoria when they knew they were getting a puppy, and agreed to do the show so they filmed their new puppy owner struggles in preparation for filming. I think the episode is great, because the purpose was specifically to help me puppy owners learn what to do with the same problems almost every puppy has.

All first time pet owners need guidance and this is what these beautiful people needed and Victoria calmed their jitters down, I am happy they got shaq when the two boys were at this older stage as it is a lot more easier for puppies and dogs to feel comfortable. Every owner needs guidance when they begin the first time 😊

Fair play to her for getting help when she did. Most people leave it far too late and there are so many behavioral issues

I'm IN LOVE with this episode! Shaq is such an adorable baby, the boys are so sweet, and the mom is lovely. They all just needed some guidance because puppies do need lots of TLC. Loved to see the family learn and everybody grow closer. Also, Victoria's excellent with kids, wow! 🥰

Why is dog sleeping alone downstairs when everyone is sleeping upstairs tho? Also there is absolutely nothing wrong with that puppy all these behaviors are normal for puppies at that age

easier maintenance. my family had a german shepherd that was not allowed on the furniture, into the dining room or the second floor with the bedrooms. i was a child and really didnt understand why my parents never allowed her to sleep with us but now i totally get it. i still find her fur while cleaning and its been years since she passed. but she honestly loved it, gave her her alone time, and independence.

@@miasomething1354 Well, having a new member of family - a pet - is always a bigger maintenance and you just have to deal with stuff like fur everywhere and vacuuming more often than before. I'm a cat mum but if I had a dog, I couldn't imagine not letting my dog to sit on furniture and spend time time on it (as long as the doggo doesn't destroy it by chewing etc).
@LoveK1
@LoveK1 Год назад
@@Silthria no you don’t have to just deal with fur and your dog everywhere and on everything. Seriously, that’s why I don’t eat fro people’s house. I KNOW that y’all aren’t being clean when you have a dog in your house. For some reason y’all always get really lax about cleanliness and hygiene. Dog hair be all over y’all clothes. Ew. You don’t have to completely give your life and sanity over to a dog.

My puppy refused to walk on a leash. I asked the neighbor if I could go with him the next time he walked his dog. It was the best thing ever as my puppy saw how much fun the leash could be with his new friend.
@Alexa-hs5bd
@Alexa-hs5bd Год назад
That’s great to hear, but try to ween him off of walking with the neighbor’s dog once he’s comfortable on the leash. Greetings/playing on leash can cause frustrated greeter-reactivity

It says so much about the son's good character that he cared so much for his little puppy that he would sleep downstairs with him. What a great kid! I'm so glad that Victoria praised and encouraged him for having such good instincts. It was wonderful seeing how much they all care and want to be involved. What a lovely family.
