Sitting here in USA, so many miles away from India with an infant and a toddler, worried about my old parents in India who live in a small town with very minimal or no medical facilities, enakku neeye kathi eeshwari! Seeing so many friends/acquaintances losing their lives/loved ones, so painful but helpless, enakku neeye kathi eeshwari! A powerful, soul-wrenching cry of the soul towards the Mother of the Universe. I was skeptical when I clicked on this link. How can these modern day singers match Leela Amma's peerless rendition? But, Ms. Chinmayi proved me wrong. A lovely rendition, with piano accompaniment. I enjoyed it immensely. I was in tears, as my mind gravitated towards Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, who was intoxicated with love for Mother Kali. The mad priest of Dakshineshwar would have gone into samadhi upon listening to this song. Thank you.

Brilliant rendition, Chinmayi! You not just skilfully brought out the bhāvam of the song but also beautifully demonstrated Chārukēśi rāga. Your performances never fail to impress. No matter the type of song, you just ace it. I became hooked to your voice when I first heard "Oru deivam thandha poovae" years ago and you have somehow managed to retain that amazing voice and style consistently all these years! Your songs in '96 are etched into my ears, particularly "Kadhalae kadhalae", that's how many times I've heard them and continue to listen. This song of yours has inspired me to dust off my amateur skills and record a version of my own, being one of my all-time favorite songs. If I get to record it sometime, I'd love to hear your feedback 🙏🙏
