I remember learning properties of exponents in 5th grade, and the teacher wasn't really clear on how to solve these problems, but it seemed like everyone else in my class knew how to do it since they where all a bunch of math geniuses. Then, I went and watched these videos which made it so much easier for me :D

multiply to both denominator and numerator so you have (4^-2/9^-2) simplify by doing a reciprocal = (9^2/4^2) proceed with simplification = 81/16 as the final answer...

well if you cant do that when adding or subtracting then how do you do it?
@JulietheWriter
@JulietheWriter 14 лет назад
Well, how DO I solve a problem that involves addition and/or subtraction? I have an AP Calculus AB summer packet to do and there are at least six problems like that. If it's in the numerator I can easily separate it into different fractions, deal with the negative exponents, get a common denominator, and then put it all back together.... right? Would this work? Is it the best way?
