Yep, 2-5-1s become 5-2-6s. Think about the amount of doors that opens. Jazz is based heavily on the 2-5-1? Well get ready for Jazz 2.

7-4-1, you still have to consider A as the tonic, even if it's minor

@@antoniofarina716 Not only do I personally disagree, because to me, relative major and minor are the same key, but the number system shouldn't really have anything to do with key, so - 5-2-6 - b6-b3-b7 - 6-3-7 - b7-4-1 - 7-#4-#1 (or b1-b5-b2, whatever) - 1-5-2 - b2-b6-b3 - 2-6-3 - b3-b7-4 - 3-7-#4 - 4-1-5 - b5-b2-b6 are all perfectly valid names for the progression because they're all mathematically true. All that changed was where the point of reference, the 1, was. But as you can see, 5-2-6 is by far the most efficient name as it has the least alterations, simply because the entire number system is based on the ionian mode, so picking that as your point of reference is the most efficient. And 7-4-1 isn't mathematically true, again it would have to be b7-4-1.

@@antoniofarina716 Only if you assume that "tonic" is equivalent to 1. I just view the number system as a mathematical system that isn't inherently linked to perceived tonality. More importantly, it would be b7-4-1, not 7-4-1. Big difference. But as you can see, viewing it like this adds a flat (actually two since the 4 has to be minor).

You’re contradicting yourself. Knowing what sounds good IS understanding. Music is sound 😊

this willful ignorance is why we have cheap mass-produced boring repetitive pop music
