@@Camarao316the joke is that since Australia is in the southern hemisphere, it’s upside down. And this song is the negative (upside down) of the original. I hope this translates ok.
Most of all a Radiohead's Creep feeling, a flavour of Soundgarden's Black hole sun in the solo, a touch of Something in the way by Nirvana, and a Weezer taste.
How is nobody talking about how crazy the lead guitar lines are here. The lines come out closer to reversed solos/leads, which makes them that much crazier to hear/play... INCREDIBLE transcribing and playing.
I love how much Beatles songs inverted into negative harmony sound like Elliott Smith! It makes a lot of sense, he was a huge Beatles fan - the resemblance is fascinating though. Also thank you so much for these! Having known their music my whole life, hearing the Beatles negative covers are especially interesting to me. And your vocals and playing are superb!
This song already has a lot of interesting chord changes. Knew the negative would be a certified hood classic. Excellent. Actually made me pay attention to the lyrics a bit more, too. One of the more interesting ones. Thanks
I've been waking up with your negative harmony covers stuck in my head recently. This one is absolutely my favorite. You smashed the vocal performance. Honestly your work doesn't deserve to be reduced to a joke.
I normally listen to these as a test to see how far I can get before bouncing off, but this is one of my favorite songs so I thought I wouldn’t last long. Turns out I love this rendition not as much as the original but I’ll happily listen to it
hey Stevie, how are you? I've been following you on your channel since the ''All Star'' video, and since then I've been fascinated with how you managed to transpose any song into Negative Harmony, if you could, could you explain how I can do that? is there some kind of overdub in the process? how do you keep the voices so original? Sincerely - Raphael.
Hey Raphael, thanks for listening. I basically invert all the chords and melody notes on paper, like write them all out on paper, and then re record the instruments that need to be inverted. For vocals I either find an isolated vocal track by the original artist and use melodyne to invert the melody, or (as with this song) I'll just sing the new melody myself. Hope that helps
@@stevecruickshank5686 I made a comment in another video asking if it was AI cover, thanks for the explanation, that's even more impressive. You are a genius, my man
@@carlosschleu He's been doing this for over 6 years. There wasn't really any widely available AI software that would be able to accomplish this level of musicianship available 6 years ago or even now, as most AI covers are just Vox (Much less a full band). This is but a mad genius recreating a fully tracked out song with incredible attention to detail and grasp upon the Musical language.
While my Piano rudely laughs, by The Flies, Lyrics I'm blind to you all, can't see the hate that's waking While my Piano rudely laughs I look to the sky, and I see it's crystal clear Still, my piano rudely laughs I know why they told you How to keep your hate I know how they let you free They freed and helped you I look at space, and I see how still it is While my Piano rudely laughs With every success, we are never perfecting Still, my piano rudely laughs I know, how you stayed on track You were healthy, too I know how you were true We all praised you I am blind to you all, can't see the hate that is waking While my Piano rudely laughs (I can't) Can't see you Still, my piano rudely laughs Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah No, No, No, No
I love the concept and the outcome can be interesting but I'm often confused, doesn't it oppose the direction of melodies and basslines because in this, the bassline starts decending like the original?
You need to do i’m only sleeping and i want to hear what you do with the solo. That was tough for me to learn and i did it on a banjo. Next i will learn to do it on a dobro.
Quickly becoming a big ol' fan of these reinterpretations, dude. Incidentally not the first one that has evoked Elliott Smith to my ears. You happen to be an Elliott Smith fan? Should you do another Beatles tune, Because might be fun to tackle. Subscribed! EDIT: Just found Between the Bars AND Because👌
Okay... Now we can see, but we don't know who came first... ??? But OBVIOUSLY, either The Beatles were 'Negative Harmonizing' to The Beach Boys, or the other way around (resulting in THIS!)
