After many years ignoring color film due to my inability of getting good scans out of it, NEGATIVE LAB PRO seem to be the answer to my color film frustration.

Thanks bro. This was so good, because this summer I'm going to digitize all my negatives and I have quite a few color negs in those boxes. Ok, maybe not all, but most anyway😀

I guess you gotta have a lot of work to do!!! But really, the app is awesome.

I've been using Darktable for B&W, and have settled on a nice, fast, effective workflow there. I just recently got 2 rolls of Portra 800 I shot last December developed and thought I'd try that. For B&W I don't use negadoctor (the main plugin), as it doesn't work well for bulk conversion, but I gave it a try for the portra. Honestly, first shot, it pretty much nailed it. Others did need some fiddling with, but 65% were "portra"'ish enough for me right off the bat. The only trick seemed to be to enable white balancing and set that to the light pad colour. That said, I can't be bothered with colour. I just don't care about colour that much, and definitely not enough to stump up for the film and dev costs (even home dev is expensive compared to B&W).

I'm happy with my BW scans. Somehow I get good scans out of the Epson native software and that is fine for me. The annoying part is the believe that I was unable to shoot color film at all. Not that I would have done a lot more than BW, but in many occasions would have been nice. Just the feeling that I can shoot color scan it and get a good result already makes me happy. Is never a bad thing to have an extra "tool" in the box.

Pity they don’t make a stand alone version of Negative Lab Pro. There are a lot of photographers who don’t like Lightroom.
