It’s because the disliker topped his tree before watching this video and only watched it after the fact. The dislike was for himself….he was disliking himself and how foolish….how very foolish he was for not using this technique

5:45 I was thinking “wait, you didn’t thread the ring!” Then you said it!😆. Actually one reason I like a a ring on a dead eye, you can leave the rigging line in the ring. Untie partially and re-tie. You can kinda do same thing with pocke sling pulling a bight through pocket still on the ring and slide it down if trunk is still similar dia on next cut.
Love the channel big fan. However there is a lot of young guys watching and learning. Make sure to do the research. 3 rings for termination rigging point large or medium. 2 rings if you use extra large rings. Never one ring unless it is a redirect. It gives an improper bend radius on the rope. Please don't take this as a bad comment, just a concern for young climbers. Benn in this game since 1993. Climb safe Bro!!
I appreciate the input! I had read some research done by the X-man himself which indicated that despite the decreased bend radius of a single ring, he found that any load sufficient to break the rope would result in a break at the knot before a break at the ring, although I imagine it would be possible to use a smaller ring than recommended as well as a bigger rigging line and have the bend radius issue, but at that point, the sling on the ring generally becomes the weakest link instead of the rope. I could be wrong, and I’d love to see some testing that shows otherwise!

I don't understand why you let the blocks fall and touch the ground. Isn't it the purpose of using this method and a port-a-wrap so that it can hold the block in the air then bring it down slowly? like for example you have a house underneath the tree. If you don't have anything underneath the tree, then just cut the pieces like you would felling a tree, with the two cuts.

Very late reply but just in case someone else sees this... The makita has great power but it is annoying in the cold temperatures. It has a tendency to refuse to run when cold especially if you have any amount of debris packed around the chain break. I think it might be a software issue for safety reasons, regardless it is frustrating. The stihl battery saw is a champ. Smaller bar but tons of power and zero issues. I wish I could try the Husqvarna electric saw but havent had the chance yet.
The technique is perhaps over a hundred years old ...your lesson. As for the X Rings..I was on Tree Buzz when David Dryer who called himself the "X Man" invented them. A bloviating blathering self important blow hard but is likely lying on a beach with a mai tai in his had laughing at the world. Me, I'd rather do tree work til I die and would get bored lying on a beach.

If I’m understanding your question correctly, it’s because carabiners aren’t rated for shock loading. If you are doing negative rigging, then there is inherently a bit of shock loading that occurs no matter what.
There is both an MBS limit issue and a bend radius issue. bending a rigging rope over a carabiner puts far more stress on it than running the rope over the comparatively much larger diameter rigging ring, and a steel carabiner could break under the stress of this type of rigging
I like that someone noted this. I don't have the full context here, so I'm not sure why he chose to do that. If you're thinking the same as I am, I generally keep the notch nearer to my waist so that 1) the saw isn't unnecessarily near my face and I'm not staring into the wood chips, and (much more importantly) 2) if/when I need a little control over that top section being cut I've got leverage on it by placing my hand up high on the stem (Whether one-handed saw use, or two, after the saw is stowed). Of course, one can always have a tag line in that top, but... I'm hoping someone else will see this and weigh in.
