Thanks for the review. For 35mm check out the JJC film copying set up. Much easier to use than a copy stand, particularly with cut film and mounted slides. Comes with a led light, film holders and extension tubes that mount direct to macro lenses.
Hello Hashem, Thank you for your videos, they have helped immensely. Over the last few days, I have spent a good amount of time reviewing your videos trying to find a Plugin/Program that I thought you used once that allows for adjusting the brightness of an image based off exposure zones. If I recall correctly, it was in a video about something else, but it allowed you to adjust each exposure zone separately. I didn't make a note of it at the time and now I cannot find it. I am pretty sure that it was in one of your videos. If not, I apologize. In any event, thank you again for your work here, its very helpful.
Great vid. Use a lot of that technique in my “scans” Have you found a solution for Polaroids? Having difficulty with reflections and getting a true flat capture. Have had similar reflection issues on flat bed scanning as well. Thanks in advance.
I have done some Instax and polaroids before, and it was just a matter of constantly playing with the lighting until it was even, and there were no reflections. I recall using a "V" shape to light them. A polariser might also help!
Hashem, thanks for your feedback on this! It's actually incredible how hard it is to find a "cheap" good copy stand. One question I have is if you know if the Negative Supply one will have extra import taxes to be considered for intl. shipping (I live in Italy). I found that this and the Kaiser Repro-kid are the two best option in this price range and I don't know which one to buy...
I'm not too sure! I would try adding to a cart to see or sending them a message, it might depend on the country as well. Yeah I'm not too familiar with the Kaiser but have heard they have a few options :-)
Here is a link to a video on how to build one. I want to use a 45.7 MP camera and 105mm macro lens so need a beefier mount and taller post (I will be doing 120 negatives). I have a larger Manfrotto clamp than the video shows and I am going to mount an Arca Swiss plate from an old ball head on the clamp. Now I need to figure out how to avoid buying a $270 negative holder. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-swu13sUWGaY.html
Hi mate, great video! Would it work well with an arca swiss plate for example, or some other sort of quick release? All my cameras have those mounted and I'd be hesitant to remove them. Would make it a lot easier to work with, no? Cheers /Fred
Hey Fred, I cant say sorry, as I don't have any experience with arca swiss plates personally. Perhaps if you send the guys at NS a message they'll know!
Hello Hashem, thanks a lot for your video. I would like so much to to buy this copy stand. do you think i could scan 120mm with 55mm micro nikkor macro lens on my fuji xt4 (80mm equivalent on Full frame)? thanks, Lorenzo
I think you could get away with 645, but maybe not larger formats. It might be best to confirm with NS though. They also have the basic riser which is not "mini" which would a better all rounder for medium formats
I think that's a great option! I have used that lens in the past and it was quite nice. Although I have the L version now, the main advantage is stabilisation (which you wouldn't need for film scanning)
I have the EF 100mm F2.8 L and tested it against a number of other lenses. It's certainly very good, but not exceptional when it comes to resolution or CA (which I kind of expected from some online review). Wouldn't hesitate to use it for camera scanning though.
I don't know if anyone can say that it's one obvious best option for Canon (EF). If you've already got a Canon 100mm F2.8 L then I'd use that. It's one of the few EF lenses (worth selling) I kept when I switched to mirrorless. Still, IMO it's not particularly good value for money at the current prices if you basically want to only use it to digitize film and other macro work. You can get basically the same IQ from a number of other macro lenses at much lower cost. I compared it to an older 50mm macro, and the 100mm was better, but not by much. I also compared it to a Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art lens and expected it would give as high resolution and the 100mm clearly didn't. Of course the Art lens isn't a macro so cant compete at macro distances, but it say something about how good the 100mm could have been. Good options (haven't used all of them so partially based on reviews) are IMO Sigma 70mm and 105mm, Tamron 90mm and the old non-L Canon 100mm is also as good optically.
Way to expensive for a simple Aluminiumextrusion a board mounted to it and 3D-Printed parts. Buy a pice of wood, a macro slider, 30cm Aluminiumextrusion 3030 and lets do someone print a camera holder for you or just attach a macro-slider to it.
Nice, show us when you've made the same thing for $20 max worth of bunnings supplies, and I'll personally share it on the channel and get you heaps of business 👌🏼
