Sweet. A few years ago I met a 50 year old black lawyer that was into punk and metal big time. I was there working on his computer for the company I worked for at the time. He had punk streaming from Pandora and he and I had a lenghty conversation about old school punk rock/metal. I thought it was prttey cool. Not everyday I run into a black punk/metal head. Rare where I live lol.

@@DonTheMoron716 The Hillbillies of largely Scots-Irish origin had a massive influence on what became rock "n' roll and all that followed after with their rockabilly that was essentially revved up country and bluegrass. Listen to the church music of the Appalachia region and the snake handling pentecostal sects in particular. That is primeval rock and roll stripped to it's bare bones. Black America with Gospel and the blues had an undoubted huge impact but rock has always been a musical melting pot drawing on different cultural currents.

Had the opportunity to see them a few months before Omar’s passing. Drove 4 and a half hours across the state to visit my friend going to school in Memphis, and their stage presence and raw power was the perfect antidote to blow all the steam from the drive. Rest In Peace.

Bad brains is arguably the greatest hardcore band of all time and Skrewdriver was a mediocre oi band with shockingly hateful lyrics. I was just pointing out the absurdity of thinking this is a cover of a Bad Brains song. Nobody should have the audacity to cover Bad Brains anyway, in 30 years of listening to punk rock I’ve never heard a cover of one of their songs that did justice because H.R. is a truly singular human being.

@@Humanophage What people always forget, it is not so much about political correctness on RU-vid's site (Skrewdriver's All Skrewed Up is all over RU-vid), but it is about who owns the rights to this music. If there is some bonehead crap on RU-vid, those boneheads have theoretically (and practically) the rights to get money from the views. And if I were RU-vid, I wouldn't want to support those people (and neither offend my audience). Skrewdriver's All Skrewed Up was released on Chiswick (like Motörhead and other alternative UK bands). So there is no way any money goes to boneheads. If they wouldn't't have made up a whole band for the movie Romper Stomper (better sound than any bonehead band out there - what a shame hahaha [and by the way on RU-vid - with extremely racist lyrics]), the movie would have been boycotted everywhere, which is, in my opinion, comprehensible.

E.g. at one point Stahlgewitter had several 1M+ view songs, then they got wiped out and hard banned, now some are allowed again. Their tactics are rather clear from looking at internet archive.

Many people forget that RU-vid is a private company and not a state institution. They can do what they want here. They don't need to be tolerant. Omar was a solid dude, I talked to him online a lot many years ago. I was never fortunate enough to meet him but he had a positive impact on a lot of lives (including mine). He will be missed. He was also in a reggae band called "Chinese Connection Dub Embassy" and they're pretty dope as well.
