Praying to learn from the Word and from the wise who've gone before. I remember this sharpening & sobering time in the PNW. I've never shared publicly. I will now, briefly, in response to PMarks testimony. (39:00min) Side note: Nehemiah spoke so vividly to me & my house during this season, even more now... Ten+ years ago, in my home state, the beautiful PNW... I had never experienced/witnessed such a visceral attack on the Church, it wasn't against one man or men, though PMark and others took the public brunt. The intent, not merely the words hurled publicly was "off". A feeling (and warning) I can only describe as the same accusing, hate-filled spirit we currently see and hear hurled about right now, ONLY now it's in mass, nationwide/globally. The hostile public discourse was not a good witness or fruitful. Then and surely now we see it was a trap many fell into. Worse still, as some onlookers mocked and jeered, some believers fell away from Jesus all together. A sobering reality of "division among the brethren" and why God warns us strongly against it. Ten years on, I receive it as a correction, a testing and pressing of my faith. The spirit coming against a specific region was strategic and in many ways successful, yet Jesus was there too equipping, if we will receive it as such, for right now. Jesus warns and provides answers to the test in the Bible. New days, old demons. I still choose Jesus - His Ways of peace, His Truth and His Life of sacrifical love.

wow... I'm listening to this sermon and I think the whole series 2 or 3 times. This one spoke right to me and I feel what you went through pastor Mark. I'm from Puebla, Mexico and I have always imagined what it would be like to be able to go to your church every sunday (it would be AMAZIIINGGG) and how much me and family would learn

Yeah I have had a few people like this. My mother was like this. Love my mother took care of the last several years of her life and she changed a lot but from the time I was 18 years of age all the way through to the point where she had to move in with me, I was constantly getting things from people and it was the same thing. You need to take care of your mother. You need to come take care of your mother. You need to come take care of your mother. I even had one come up and say you need to quit your job. Leave your wife leave your kids move down here and take care of your mother because that's what I would do for my mom and before that when I was not far away from her there was constantly always something I had to come over and take care of it. Her house even when I would tell her that didn't need to be done. She would then do it herself and then I'd have to come fix it and I'm talking about things like she would blow out her pilot light and then I'd have to come light the pilot light so she'd have a heater in the winter. Even though I told her leaving the pilot light on doesn't run your gas up and it doesn't heat your house. This didn't stop until she had to move in with me and I guess she realized that she was no longer on her own and could very easily go places she didn't want to go. But all of the people saying you need to come take care of your mother stopped and went away. So I think she had conversations with other people telling them in trying to get them to talk to me

Not only was Jeremiah not to marry, but vs 5-9 say he was not even to attend funerals to mourn with the bereaved, or attend any feasts and celebrations that were taking place. Why do you think that was? The message was that God was going to bring all such festive occasions to an end.

One element of being a public figure is the person has to know they are a public figure, be able to see the slander in order to respond to the slander, and several additional criteria which are not met on my side of the equation. Therefore no public figure argument can be applied to myself or my life until later at such time I may become a public figure and have the direct ability to be aware of slander thereby providing the opportunity to respond to any such slander in a timely fashion. Without the ability to have the knowledge and the removal of these ability of others to bring any accusations to myself this and any other argument actually further damages myself at deeper levels by any parties taking advantage of the illegal restrictions as their means to inflict further damages by removing these normal societal aspects and areas. Surely if any application applies I have lawyers who know this or now will take this line of thought to address any issues.

Re: Pastors as public figures ..there is an ancient Christian principle that calls detraction and calumny sins, especially when committed against clergy! This doesn't mean covering up clergy abuse, but it means don't pass along gossip, judgements, or criticisms about the passtor's grooming, preaching, faults, personality quirks, and other categories in which lay people are not qualified to judge. (A great example of detraction and calumny is what Megan and Harry did to their family.)

Well, you were yelling at someone else's wife: the bride of Christ - the Church - which is something that Jesus will never do. Isaiah 42:2 says of Jesus, "He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets." And the problem with this sermon is that it casts Mark Driscoll in the role of Nehemiah whereas Jesus Christ alone is the better Nehemiah because... its all about Jesus right?
