Nehemiah lived in the aftermath of the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem and did his best to see Jerusalem restored to some of its former glory. His enemies were people who should have been allies-leaders from the nearby areas who stood against Nehemiah and the work he was doing. Nehemiah did not let their evil distract him from his goal, and used prayer, wisdom, and resolution to complete the work he was given to do.
