Neighbor Saves Silage Chopping

Boehm Farm

This is the solution to completing silage season. Before we ever started, I pitched the idea to dad about having the neighbor do all of it. Andy, such a great neighbor, was on board to do it all. Lo and behold the stubbornness of farmers: dad wanted to chop ourselves. Andy could chop our silo full in two days even with a worn out kernel processor. Our old new Holland would take a week or two, and that's accounting for breakdowns because it's old.

ffr, you can bend a piece of metal to lean back over the reels in your covered wagons to deflect the blow back up at about a 20° angle and that kind of blast will then fill the wagons all the way hard to the roof.

Regardless of brand.......If upgrading makes sense financially, then maybe it's time. I have to say that the JD did an impressive job. Some good hearing protection wouldn't hurt. Thumbs up.

I have always brand new (max 3 years old) John Deere tractors. And that's for one reason only, a great trading object. Say what you want about John Deere, yes they have ridiculous price on spare parts. But the trading cannot be disagree on.

Find an I h 600 blower or bigger for your Shiloh. And you can run those boxes in clean out mode on corn silage. A cheap upgrade but a huge capacity difference

Hi Jacob, I am considering buying an old corn picker and trying to sell a little bit of ear corn next year. I was wondering how well you were able to sell it and if you thought it would be worth my time. I just do a little crop farming as a hobby not as a full time business. Wouldn’t have a good way of storing it for a long time so I’d need to sell it pretty quick.
