The CGI Artist that made the tiger: You don’t need to put me in the credits. Neil: Don’t worry, I’ll put you in the credits. The CGI Artist: You don’t need to.
Neil Breen movies are just an eternal arms race of "is he trolling" or "is he serious". Hostages being played by the same actors as kidnappers is borderline genius.
I sometimes think he's the ultimate mind of the universe and his movies and thought process is so deep that we can't comprehend them and see them as primitive
I’m trying to imagine a house designed by Breen back in his architect days. Corridors that go nowhere, stairs that just stop halfway between floors, the front door opens onto the bathroom which also has an oven in it. I’d actually love to see one.
@@RoloT007 I had never heard of that place before. Looking it up now. Thank you. Looking crazy houses up is interesting. Maybe not at the level of screwed up the Holmes and Winchester houses are, sure, but what do you think of the Kerr house?
@@reiterated It a crazy one alright, what the contractors building it were playing at I do not know! I dont think Im familiar with the Kerr house, let me have a look see and Ill get back to you.
@@DoctorBiobrainOh god that would be terrifying. I'm in my hidden little flat in the UK, I even have a front door cam but imagine turning around and Neil Breen is there just naked without setting off any alerts I'd run out screaming.
There's an interview out there with Emily Brixey. According to her, Neil was very rigid in what he wanted and turned down suggestions she had for improving the appearance of the cgi. Apparently, he also initially wanted the tiger to be entirely white but eventually relented on that aspect.
I'm ready for Neil Breen to start re-making Hollywood classics in his style, or for competent directors to re-make his filmography in a style that's good. I'll take either one. Just imagine... "Neil Breen's the Muppets Take Manhattan" "Neil Breen's Braveheart" "Neil Breen's The Godfather" I mean the possibilities are endless!
As an architect it really is telling of Neill's awareness and intellect that he thinks a building can't make you emote or think; just look at any pre-20th century classical or monumental architecture, and if you have an iota of curiosity, soul and imagination you'll feel something. Sure the world of modern architecture is filled with soulless trash made for money (which I'm convinced is what Neill made himself as architect), but in the end this just ties together with his obvious lack of insight, capacity for criticism and awareness with what he creates.
You know Neil needs to cut to the chase and replace all the other characters with himself. Perhaps include one CGI version of Neil wearing a t-shirt with Neil's face on it. as an added bonus.
Alzheimer's, Dementia, memory loss, Brain fog and Bad acting all come with age... But Neil proves it is possible to get them all at the same time, and then make a movie... And I have to give Neil credit for finding additional Actors and Actresses with the same talent.
This video doubles down as a great intro to Breen in general. I don’t know if he’s just getting lazy or genuinely suffers from the Lucas delusion that green screen is the best way to make a film, but I miss seeing him eat tuna and run around in the actual desert. One thing I will say for him: he sets the bar so low for what a movie is that he inspired me to make my own no-budget feature film (free here on youtube) without getting hung up on its flaws. Neil empowers and liberates! If he can do it, so can you….
I'm definitely gonna check out your film! (Btw, this was the best example I've ever seen of someone talking about their own work without it being some weird spammy ad. People could learn a thing or two from you. Well done 😉)
*Update: (I had to double back real quick) Only one minute in on your film and, "Half wizard, half mad scientist, half spiritual guru..." really got me 😂😂😂 it's just so gloriously stupid that I'm now fully all in!
A vanity project superhuman special agent who defends the world from Bla Bla and is irresistible to young women? Sounds like Steven Segal has some competition. 🍻❤️🤣
I Don't Know How or Why fanboy came up on my Recommends, 2Days Ago. Absolutely No Fucking Idea.... But this channel has me in Stitches. His Reviews are exactly my kind of Humor! Subbed for a Great Channel!
How in thee actual fuck did Breen get worse at filmmaking?! He took a few dozen "actors" from a Craigslist ad, $500, and a Gateway Desktop computer running Windows Vista OS and decided to make this masterpiece. 🤣😄 Gawd dammit Neil!
@@lads.7715I’d have had a little more respect for Breen if he’d used that famous screen background of a hill used as default in Windows XP, known as Bliss (originally Bucolic Green Hills). Except that Microsoft bought all rights to it from the original photographer, and I don’t think he could have bought the right to use it at all!
I've got a theory about this movie. Granted, I came up with it after accidentally eating two special brownies, but still: the reason there are so many glitches and mistakes in the editing was done on purpose by Breen. Follow me on this, the first movie was about virtual reality a la Matrix. The sequel is actually taking place inside the altered minds and hacked brains of the characters. Super Breen (Cade) is his ideal version of himself in an AI world, and Cale is actually the surviving part of his mind that's struggling to hold on to reality. It may make more sense is people get st@ned... Lol
While we've been waiting for a new Neil Breen movie to come out, I have been uncovering all kinds of government secrets, and corruption... I am of course the top scientist, computer hacker, and secret agent in the world.
He's the progression of Hollywood, going from on-site shooting to total reliance on CGI and green screen, to the detriment of all. Bless you, Neil Breen.
How the fuck does this movie have a 6.6 rating on IMDb (that's the median rating on IMDb, implying that this POS is better than *HALF* the movies produced)?! People must have been trolling... Also, the point-and-click video game edit was great! :)
There aren't many people who see Neil Breen movies, and even fewer who bother to rate them on IMDB, and of the latter there's no doubt plenty who give it high marks out of humor (much like you can see plenty of sarcastic five-star reviews of notoriously terrible films.)
Ed's movies are honestly much more fun to watch and I honestly feel for the guy's efforts. Ed was always struggling with having any money to make his movies at all, maintaining creative control and never bothered with making ego projects. Neil is a man with too much money of his own, has full control over his films and all his movies are designed to present how amazing and desirable.
@@Undeadpriest94 you're right, but the improvement would be in special effects, etc. Ed would have still directed, wrote, etc...and it wouldn't be less funny. He'll, the dialog alone is gold, "you see? Your minds! Your stupid, stupid MINDS!!" Lol
I have to say the line “I’ll be right here” as he points to his glowing alien heart may be one of the greatest most iconic moment in a movie I’ve ever seen. So emotional!!!
Not only is Neil obviously getting hit by a tram in front of Amsterdam Central Station in The Netherlands but I’ve actually walked exactly where he gets struck in this movie!🤣
Dude never shave. It makes you look 15 lbs lighter. Oh, wait you lost some weight! Well congrats. Took me 4 months to drop from 211 lbs to 186 lbs. I cut my intake of junk food by 3/4 th set up two main meals diet, dropped all sugary drinks (most of my sugar intake came from fruits) without hitting a gym even once. Well i have a physically demanding job so there is some kind of workout. Good to see people actually taking care of their body if not mental health (based on your review track record).
i love how it seems like neil breen is breaking you mentally, that being said i used to love these "theyre so bad its surreal" type of movies but ive steered clear of breen because im actually scared of them inducing a flashback. there is such a thing as too much surreal...
The guy is inspirational. Don't look at the best, getting depressed at how much better they are than you. Look at people that make you go, "well I can do better than that."
You said Neil struggled with writing dialogue. Based on what i've seen, I've come to the conclusion that there are NO scripts or dialogues written in a Neil Breen movie. He just directs the actors to say whatever lines he comes up with in the spur of the moment.
This is a class of its own: US avant-garde amateur théâtre film. In Gondry's "Be Kind Rewind", movies were "Sweded". You could say that cinema is "Breened" now.
Man this one's a really tough one for me. On one hand I always wait for new videos by you Mark. You're one of my favorite RU-vidrs of all time. A "goat" as the kids say. On the other hand I'm not really sure that I can take even a small dose of "The Breen-machine" . I guess I am a little curious whether he gets naked in this one. I hope so, because it will give me all the more reason to never watch this movie. But because I love you Mark, I will watch this episode. I mean that platonically of course.
Neil Breen seems to envision himself as a cross between James Cameron and George Lucas, but he's more of a cross between James Nguyen and George Costanza.
This film won "Best Fantasy Film" and "People's Choice Award", at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival in February of 2023. Now having watched the entire review, I think Mark is truly angry at Neil's inability to improve over the years.
OK, here is my theory: If doctors he was talking to previously happen to forget about him and call him a stranger, a tiger he is fighting turns into a woman, the driver is getting drunk with an empty bottle, and criminals and hostages are basically the same people... This could mean the main character of this movie is delusional. He doesn't have powers. He is creating all this in his mind as he is inside the mental institution. This is his way to cope with the fact he is trapped. He sees himself as a hero who even donates to the place he has to live in. He goes back and forth between incidents close to reality and stuff he is imagining. This explains leaps in editing logic. There you go.
Neel Breen makes me yearn for the cinematographic genius of such video games as Harvester, Dark Seed 2 or Phantasmagoria. All of which btw. had protagonists appearing to be more human then Neil Breen. And probably had higher production values. And reached a bigger audience, even though all of those games were fringe games in the 90s.
I'd pay for Harvester to be turned into a film. It may face daunting challenges like "having to avoid being a soulless cash-grab" and "Steve's actor went on to become a convicted pedophile," but it could be done.
I was listening to Mark’s reaction to this film and while walking I accidentally picked another Mark’s video about Neil breen’s “imherenow”, and I did not notice the difference somehow 😊
I have a feeling this may be that last of the Breen films. Everything about the movie smacks of a last, desperate effort to capitalize on the "cult-classic, so bad it's good" status he managed to cultivate with his previous ones. This one, with the 100% green screen usage and no real locations, even more utter nonsense of a "story" that one can't even try to follow, and the off-a-cliff level of acting using the same actors for multiple roles even more than his previous films... I think he might have run out of money. I honestly don't think he has any money to make films anymore and going 100% green screen was his last ditch effort to try and save cash in the making of this one. Based upon the different reviews I've seen, this last movie isn't going to make him any money because it's not even a "so bad it's good" film that you can put on with a bunch of friends to laugh about. It's just flat out bad and would probably get turned off after the first 10 or 20 minutes. I think the time of Breen may have come to an end with this one.
The movie was made during the pandemic, thus it only used green screens. You may be right that this may be his last film because Neil is about to turn 80 if a new movie is made.
Would love to hear some interviews from some of the actors who have been in his films. Just to hear how they were directed. Some of those stories have to be entertaining. 😂
Non-chronological; dream sequences; flashbacks; unusual narrative structure; ambiguous meaning; baffling? Holy cow! He's making his own version of L'année dernière à Marienbad! Good luck with that, Mr Breen.
Mark I’ve never heard so much anger and frustration and confusion in your tone of voice before in any other review. I think it’s safe to say Neil Breen finally broke our brains with this sizzler 😂😂😂😂
The only way every single actor delivers lines this poorly is if they have a director demanding they say them a certain way. I imagine quite a few of them just gave up and did it his way so they could get paid their slice of pizza and go home as soon as possible.
I just noticed that Mark did his own Neil Breen impression in the 'Tier 4 Supporter' list in the credits for this video, where it includes: Rob Vardaro Rob Vardaro Robert Vardaro Breenius.
I think the problem with modern Breen is that he found out he was a meme. The first four felt like genuine attempts to make movies that fell so short of the mark that they were hilarious. But Twisted Pair was the first one that felt like he was finally in on the joke and was leaning into by intentionally making it even worse and weirder than his other ones. It reminds me of what Tommy Wiseau did; he made The Room which was a genuine attempt at film that was hilariously bad, then he realized why people were actually watching the movie and made an intentionally bad television show, The Neighbors. In my opinion, The Neighbors was nowhere near as funny as The Room. This sequel feels like more of the same to me, it's putting even more effort into being intentionally bad. Intentionally bad is never as funny as accidentally bad. These last two are easily the least funny of his six movies. That's just my opinion though.
It's the subtle but crucial difference between "so bad it's good" and intentionally bad: trying to be good and failing versus trying to be bad and succeeding.
Lol I've wondered about how he casts his films. I would gladly do it for free. I was watching one of his movies once and the whole time I was just sitting there wondering about this very thing to be honest hahaha
0:24 Our Anticipation for one of Breen's Movies. Neil Breen's consistency is pure Skill at this point. 😉👌 12:51 Mark in the movie makes it Sooo much better. 😂
What the f*** is Neal's smoking when he makes this crap😂 like my God this is just so terrible also there was literally better graphics in the 70s than these movies😂
Never thought I'd see the day that a Breen movie would be so ridiculous that Mark actually sounds incredibly frustrated. I hope this didn't ruin your day Mark, lmao
I still am convinced that Neil Breen is pretending to take his Movies and the "Praise" he gets for them seriously. How do you call that? Performance Art? The Man is an Architect and apparently earned quite the Money from doing so. There is no way he isn't fully aware of why he and his Movies are so beloved. He knows he has to keep up the Act of being the unaware narcicisstic "Black Tank Top" (As Red Letter Media calls them) Movie Directors. He is smart and will keep doing these in the same Way as always without trying to improve because he knows how popular his Stuff is by now Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Do we know anything about Breen's medical history? Has he ever talked about being interested in psychedelics when he was younger? Or was he ever prescribed pain medication? These things can have a long term effect on the mind.
I hope I misunderstood Mark about watching them all; no one should marathon Neil Breen movies without supervision and/or medication. Or at all. Just putting that out there.
@@adrianopa1440 oh yes. everyone in hollywood told her not to make it because it was so bad. She thought they were wrong and didn't listen. Put up her own 20 mil to make it. I'll let you guess who was right. She also made a docu about the making of the movie which is pure insanity.
@@itsvs286So you know that everyone in Hollywood told her not to? Where did you find this mysterious wisdom? Tell me more about your connections. You are so smart. And JLo is so stupid. That must be the reason why she is a world wide influential millionair since 1997 and you type crp below youtube videos in 2024.
I could’ve sworn that when I looked Breen up on IMDb a few years ago, it said he played a cop (uncredited) in “Scream,” but when I looked again recently, it wasn’t there. Now I’m going crazy.
No, I remember that too. It also said he was a background dancer in Madonna's Vogue video. I actually watched that video immediately after to see if it was true, but it wasn't. I'm pretty sure it was just someone trolling.
He weirdly has some good messages with his content. The delivery is something that could probably use some work lmao. I think maybe he saw tenet and was like im going to make a more confusing movie.
