Nobody would even know about what Neil commented on Howard's nonsense, if Howard didnt complain about it on JRE years later. What someone tells you in private about specific ideas you actually gave him to read, could never be an attack. You could even argue, that deGrasse Tyson tried to Howard a favor: Dont publish this any further, it's proven absurdity, you're making a fool of yourself. Of course, someone like Howard cant see this as a friend looking out for him, but rather a friend being a traitor holding him down.

They're conflating the scientific process, scientific theories, and hypotheses, which are all related but distinct concepts. And scientific theories aren't typically completely disproven; instead, they evolve and become more refined with new evidence. So, suggesting that this process is flawed or backward reflects a misunderstanding of how science progresses. Additionally, comparing what we know about the Earth (learned over centuries) to what we know about COVID-19 (studied for a few years) isn't reasonable because we've had much more time to study the Earth in detail.

If you have experts in a field that is THEIR field of study they've done the research they know the facts. If you disagree with an expert in that field you don't have to listen to them at all, study the field for yourself and do your own research. It's really that simple. It's okay to disagree and hold opinions, we just need to hold each other accountable about what is FACTUAL and what is a belief or a theory. When having a belief or theory leads us to the fact in the first place. If you can't get Neil on the podcast I would recommend Chuck. Or both. Chuck honestly is like the hood translator. I explained this to my 2nd grader.....with Legos. Multiplication is just a way to condensed addition into a more manageable form. So 3+3 is the same as 2x3. 12x12 is easier to write than 12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12+12. It's just mathematical shorthand and doesn't have any special properties inherent to itself. 1x1 (or times any other number) is just another way of communicating that you only have ONE of something. It's equal to saying 1+0. It's not magic, it just a quirk in the system because in this instance (1 times another number) writing it out IS longer than just writing the singular number. Now finish your homework and go watch the Backyardigans or something.

Multiplication is the act of observing the relationship of a group or between groups (if any). It was done for thousands of years without the use of mathematical symbols. It was communicated with everyday language either verbally or written. The problem with Terrence is he don’t think I’m practical terms. He has a very loose idea of the definition and function of multiplication and exponential properties. If you have two shopping bags with four apples each, you’d have 8 apples or 2x4=8. If you had one shopping bag with one apple you’d have one apple or 1x1=1. In no situation would you an extra apple appear just because one apple is places in the bag. Or an extra bag appear. If an extra something appears the the equation changes as well as the answer to 1x2=2. He doesn’t understand exponents and square roots and the purpose of them either. But anyway. I used to get a kick out of him just making stuff up but after a while I see how compulsive it is and feel really sad for him. Crazy that anyone can have a platform

The scientific method essentially begins with a hypothesis, followed by experimentation to gather evidence. If this hypothesis is supported by evidence, undergoes peer review, and withstands scrutiny, it evolves into a working theory. When people say science is constantly proving itself wrong, I believe they misunderstand the process. Science doesn’t overturn its established theories; rather, it refines them and disproves other hypotheses. For example, Isaac Newton's theory of gravity was based on fundamental evidence that remains unchanged. Even when Einstein refined the theory to accommodate very large scales, he didn't discard Newton's ideas; he identified where they fell short and built upon them. We still use Newton's equations to get to the moon, which shows their lasting relevance. Therefore, I don't fully agree with the notion that science continually disproves past science, as mentioned at 5:20. Instead, we disprove hypotheses that fail to withstand peer-reviewed scrutiny and never become theories in the first place. The key distinction between a hypothesis and a theory is that a theory is backed by robust evidence from multiple experiments, whereas a hypothesis is not.

He was laughed out. The aether had more evidence it exists. Which is "zero point energy" NDT brushed off that equation, Terrence Howard does not and there is more evidence AND patents for zero point energy but...folks end up "gone" pushing it publicly.

disproving things in the past is actually not true, they have also confirmed theories dating back to the 60s. They have confirmed findings from 1800's. So that statement is not factual.

I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand because this 1*1 = 2 is not a new thing, and by the way, Terrance is right on this, 1 * 1 should be 2 because we are doing Multiplication, if not the name multiplication has to be changed to how many ones are in one then 1*1 = 1 will be correct but in our case, multiplication means to increase a lot in number, to make something do this or when you add a number to itself a certain number of times and we did add one to itself and the calculation came out wrong because the answer was 1. When a man and a woman have a child, they will no longer be in the same state and will have multiple

Theory must be based on facts. Facts are based on observation and experience. Before one can have a theory, one should develop a hypothesis. Theory is when we test hypotheses over and over and achieve the same results.

All due respect there was a lot of ignorance displayed in this conversation from the flat earth guy. He has the wrong idea about science and education. In science we do experiments to verify results and apply theories, it’s not just something taught from one to another and accepted as gospel. Also former theories aren’t exactly proven wrong much of the time. For example it’s not like Einstein replaced newtons physics and somehow Newton was wrong about everything. Or quantum physics somehow completely negates relativity. That’s not how it works. Anyway I hope you guys talk to more scientists in person and be more open minded instead of hard headed and stubborn which will keep you ignorant.

The comparison of COVID and the Earth being round or not is just terrible @Ish. Covid was new so the scientist were still learning in real time. With earth being round this isn't knew. We actually can go up high enough in planes and see the curvature of the earth. There are satellites that can circle the earth.

How can scientists tell you something is so many light years away
@tonyochiha9798
@tonyochiha9798 3 месяца назад
The speed of light is theoretically constant throughout the universe and is known to high precision. In a vacuum, light travels at 670,616,629 mph (1,079,252,849 km/h). To find the distance of a light-year, you multiply this speed by the number of hours in a year (8,766). The result: One light-year equals 5,878,625,370,000 miles (9.5 trillion km). At first glance, this may seem like an extreme distance, but the enormous scale of the universe dwarfs this length.

@@Trillwill6631 From memory, we discovered it by observing the moons of Jupiter. They were not exactly where we expected them to be during follow-up observations, rather they were slightly behind. So this told us that light moves at a fixed speed, someone far smarter than I did the math and calculated the actual speed. Since then our instruments have improved and we're able to do far more accurate measurements. As for determining how far away something is astronomers use parallax. You can do this yourself by holding up your thumb and closing one eye, opening the other. Then try it on a distant tree. The closer the object is, the more it will move. We have telescopes on all areas of the planet (and in space) so if we observe an object from the south pole and the north pole(for example) and see how much it moves, we can tell how far away it is. Again... our improved instruments allow us to get better measurements these days so we're more accurate. With improved instruments in the future we will get even more accurate measurements. Science is cool yo.
