My sister went to the Houston Rodeo on 2/13/2002. Neil Diamond was performing. He said that he had nearly cancelled the concert as his friend, Waylon Jennings, had died that day. Jesse Coulter was the one to call him to let him know. He told her that he was going to cancel the night’s concert. He said that she told him...don’t you dare. Waylon would not approve. So, he was there.
Heck of a story.......thanks for sharing. I live in Houston and remember him at that rodeo. I was there. Neil did some good things for Elton when he was starting out in LA as well. Elton thanks him from time to time in his shows
Two of the richest voices in the music industry come together to create a masterpiece. ND seemed to brought out the best in WJ’s voice. Not heard two male voices harmonise so smoothly. Just pure magnificent melody and music.
That woman, was the love of Waylon's life, and who rehabed him from nearly dying in 1972, his drug addiction and his stroke in 1997. She still loves him even today, and will be true to him until she goes back to him.
Damn Waylon can sing everything and make it sound so good! Jessie looks so proud at 2.25 and I sure think she was and is, she had a great man beside her with a big heart!
He has been my favorite too since 1966. What a great duet and beautiful written song by Neil Diamond. Waylon Jennings was such a great singer. Too bad I came aboard late. I now listen to his music often, and I must say the lost was mine. He was truly gifted, and talented and gracious as can be. Miss you Hoss..
My folks were married for 56 years. We lost Dad in 1990. His only comment on their 50th anniversary was " That's a long time to warm your cold feet to the same woman's backside" He loved her all his life and she never even remarrying. She'd tell you right quick that he was the only one for her, and even though she married him in 1933 & he died in 1990, she was his wife til we lost her in 2009, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Her true commitment was a blessing for us children to witness
Such Power and Feeling in Waylon's voice. Such a beautiful song. Accurate knowledge of Waylon's history makes you have a great regard for the man and puts real meaning to this song. Memories of Waylon will forever play on people's heart strings.
Love this collaboration of two awesome voices! Loved when the camera went to Jessie Colter, you could always see the love and admiration she had for her husband Waylon.
My one good love , left far too soon ! Love him more today than the day he passed. Our relationship didn't end, it has continued to grow. I miss him more today than the day he left. I just long to feel his arms around me again. I long to hear him come home from work & say " Hey Beautiful, I'm home !" It has been 19 years & I have yet to find another good love. Love you Brian.
WOW! Thanks for this. In later years many men and women singers sought to do duets with Waylon. Two masters right here...sad how he performed that night and had to announce Waylon gone. Waylon is my all time favorite singer, Elvis of course too.
Who'da thunk!! A nice jewish boy from Brooklyn and an OUTLAW from W.Texas making beautiful music together. Goes to show talent has no boundaries'. Show em how it's done boys!!!
Either one of these guys is great! But to see and hear them together is incredible! Only thing better would be to see Waylon and Jessi dancing together.
Beautiful, just beautiful! I loved Waylon, so sorry when he died. His and Neil Diamonds' voices compliment each other so well. Thanks for posting this great video.
Turn it all around. Take hold of a restless heart, lead it back to solid ground. One good love. Can take you to the light. But, just one touch, you can forget a thousand empty nights. You'll search the world for happiness. And never get enough. All you really need to find is one good love. I guess this is something we all want to achieve in our lifetime. It's that One Good Love. Hopefully someday we can all achieve this-It surely will make for a better world. What a dou!!
I'm a longtime fan of Neil diamond and I love all his music. For some reason I tend to go back to this album over and over again to listen to his country side and I'm not much of a country music fan. Go figure. I LOVE this song. Well done Neil and Waylon Jennings.
Wow. I have been playing a guitar and singing for almost 35 years, and I could not do justice to this song. These guys are great. Waylon, miss your music. It's a surprise to me, I never heard this one. What a pleasure it was.
i never realize how great the late Waylon Jennings was. he truly had a wonderful voice. it's a shame i came aboard late. what a duet with such a beautiful song, wish they could of done more together.
I sing as a Neil Diamond tribute, when this song came out on the Tennessee Moon album I loved it, because it was a duet my great friend John and I learned this song and performed it at a club, I was Neil he was Waylon, because it was a song no-one was familiar with, we told a fib, that we had written it for his wife, she believed us, we came clean in the end, but she still loved it, sadly John died a couple of years ago, I still sing this song with tearful eyes at my gigs in memory of him,
This is a beautifully written song by Neil Diamond. His other songs on the album "Under the Tennessee Moon" are just as good especially "Under the tennessee Moon" about the late great Hank Williams. What a special talent ND is and here w/the late great Waylon Jennings doing "One Good Love". It can't get any better then that...
yeah i miss his music so very much his album closing in on the fire a classic album in my books anyway .long live waylons music and keep it country amen.
