Oh hello Ash! Amanda, you look/seem/feel SO beautiful! Motherhood and it's gentle radiance suits you well.... that brings peace to my heart you know! Lovely famibly.
amanda, it's always weird. always super-private. in some moments even embarrassing, like I'm watching you behind some bush. and it's amazing all together.
Well Rock a bye baby isn't really not fit for children either, yet we sing in... Rock abye baby on the tree top, when the wind blows the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks the cradle will fall and down will go baby cradle and all... Scary if you really think about it. ;)
I read in an article that lullabies often have a dark twist in them because the mothers poored their anxiety in their songs. Infant and children dying early wasn't rare a few centuries ago. So they probably were afraid of that happening to their baby. Totally normal mother anxiety imo. It's still normal to worry about your baby wellbeing. The sound of voices and melody is soothing for babies, they cannot know the deeper meaning of the song so that is okay :)
Gorgeous. My gran used to sing this song to my mum in the 40s (who sang it to us in the 70s), but a slightly different version. It started with "the muvver was poor and the baby was thin" and ended with "'e's a-muckin' abhant wiv the angels above... not lorst but gone before." Nice take, though the sewers were a bit of a shock!
+starlinguk I think he's got just the right amount of distance and skepticism when it comes to judging his dad's vocal skills. The appreciation will come in a couple of years I guess :D
