Good Omens saved my life. It led me to the Discworld universe. Terry carried me through some VERY terrible years, he was my therapist. I can quite firmly state that the books kept me from doing myself in. I hope they kept the paintball war in. I hope I get a chance to see it!

Gawds, yes! I don’t know quite when it was (don’t really remember my twenties- I was just anxious and depressed to an incapacitating degree) but for a couple of the years I was reading Discworld novels at least two a week. I don’t want to think what it might have been like without those!

So true. It helped me stop worrying about the real Armageddon! (I was raised Fundagelical so I needed to lose the insanity! ...)

I cried as a baby when it ended, I'm so glad to hear that Neil did too and that he wanted people to feel this way. I was so moved by it, it was all so beautiful, I just couldn't help but sob...

Terry Pratchett has been my best friend for years, it doesn't matter that I never met him, he was there for me through years of depression and saw me through. His books gave you part of his soul, everyone who read his books and made a connection with them will have felt that. Terry Pratchett wrote his soul onto the page and offered his hand out to all of us, and a lucky few took his hand and were led on an amazing journey. If you haven't already I urge you to read his books!

I loved him, too. Years ago he gave a lecture, and my dad came with me, and waited in line with me to meet him. I didn't bring one of his books, so Terry gave me a poster of his latest book ad signed it. He was lovely.

"Good Omens" helped me to find Terry Pratchett during one of those moments when you just cant find a book you really want to read. I was in a bad stump for awhile till "Good Omens"

Like Neil himself I got all misty at the end of the TV series. But I also got all misty at the end of this interview when Neil was talking with such sincerity about how the show was made for Sir Terry. It is my perception that the love and respect that Neil clearly felt and feels for STP illuminates every single moment of the Good Omens series. It glows with that love. Because of it, the show has become something quite different from any other TV or even movie that I've ever seen. It's something special and wonderful and magical that manifests love in the world. What a joy!

Not gonna lie, I was already about to cry at the end of the last episode, and then the words "For Terry" popped up and I couldn't hold back any more.

p.s. if metatron-crowley dialogue is not in, i will personally burn down the whole world. i mean it. and dislove neil gaiman and that lot. :D this one, ending (p.353 in corgi 1991 ed): 'God does not play games with His loyal servants,' said Metatron, but in a worried tone of voice. 'Whooo-eee,' said Crowley. 'Where have you _been_?'

9:26 they borrowed those parts (what were not in original Good Omens) from book in Sandman's library! :D i'm sure neil gaiman knows his way around there. Lucien is, i hope, only glad to help.

The book is good. Funny and allegorical and beautiful and tingling. It's what is worth saving about our crazy species.

@@lukenash9719 enjoy! I'm torn about whether to reread it again (I've lost count!) before the show comes out. I think I'll probably reread it after I watch the show. And then if the show is good, rewatch it after the reread . . .

A lot of authors are like this. Writers too. We are funny people who sit around and write stories because we enjoy them. Awkward is part of that, really.

The comedy comes from the circumstances and how real life impacts all very serious issues. This is not Abbot and Costello meet the Apocalypse. That is not funny. The funny part is how things go very wrong, in spite of the best efforts of everyone involved.
