Eton, Winchester, Canterbury, Gordonstoun, and other exclusive schools teach pupils about money, how to get it, how to keep it how to grow it, How to be bankers, world leaders, politicians, business oligarch's, insurance executives, CEO's, even in the case of girls how to marry into wealth. State schools teach pupils how work with wood or metal, how to manage ledgers, how to cook etc. to be good little workers, carpenters, brickies, factory workers, nurses, shop assistants, secretaries, not forgetting how to be little breeders, housewives etc. to keep up the supply of working/cannon fodder. We ordinary folk don't stand a chance because our education is only directed to serving and making money for the rich and powerful, we are brainwashed/programmed/conditioned to serve, whereas the well off are conditioned to BE served.

I use my phone for making calls and receiving calls. And I prefer using cash, it's the SAD people using their phones and watches to make payments.

We now take our cash out of the bank, keep it safe and use notes to pay for things. You know, like we used to. In France we still use cheque books.

The other thing is that they forcing us to use apps or pay with cards only. I ve heard from one of high street home supply shop that from new year we wont be able to buy unless one provide shop with email address.

It is not a case of “the truth is coming out” this is factual basic understanding of the banking system. May I refer you to the videos created over 10 years ago “Bank on Dave”…….. What we need is to challenge the banking system to allow communities to create and run more transparent local banks. Thank God we never adopted the EURO…… things would be even worse!

Listen to Professor R Werner. I find him very interesting. He I think likes decentralised, small community banks which lend to local community, those who produce. Mentions Credit Unions I think too. It is the small business where I am that are producing, employing. Functional community, decentralised power Seems key. But who am I? To say. I /we make the most of what we have available. Your friends should have refused the beverage as long as they haven’t drank any. The cafe would then have no option but to let them leave without payment (without beverages too) BUT the cafe would have had to throw those beverages away. How many times do you think it will take before businesses such as these wake up?

Part of the problem here is that the banks are making handling cash more expensive for businesses. Most people are unaware it costs money to pay your takings into the bank. It's not the shop being awkward, it's the shop trying to save money. There's a big push around the world to remove cash and rely on credit cards. Banking charges are one of the tools being used to aide this. Lockdown and handling cash that can "pass on the lurgy" was also used to bring this forward. The pandemic brought the move to a cashless society forward by 10 years. I rarely used cards for day to day shopping, now I even buy a crud Greggs sausage roll on a card.

It makes sense. House prices are only so high because of the amount banks are willing to load onto you as debt. Since everyone plays the game house prices go up, but that game doesn't last indefinitely; as we are beginning to see.

I still think that the best way is to have enough cash for the week, according to your budget, for shopping, petrol and general living, in your wallet and use it to pay for everything, when it's gone it's gone, can see exactly where you are. Cards and phones are just encouragement to get into debt and have to pay interest at a heck of a lot more than the £10 per thousand per year that the typical savings account has been getting.

@Richard Fox It is not silly at all. Most people do not have the random thought to visit a Wiki site to try and understand our monetary system. And the likes of Wiki is one of the last places you should visit to get accurate information. Our monetary system is not secret. It is just surrounded by so much smoke and mirrors as to make it barely comprehensible. That is by design and not an accident. It is designed to make the "little" people believe they are too stupid or uneducated to understand such a complicated subject. It is something best left to our "betters". "Money as Debt" is an excellent starting point for people who have never given any consideration as to how our monetary system works. As in most things, people have to learn how to walk before they try to run.
