I spent about 10 days driving around Iceland in a 4X4. It basically turned into a rally driving trip. I also can’t count how many times me and my mate said “woah, look at that, look at that; this place is mental. Oh look, another waterfall!!” We both got caught speeding too. Not a cheap fine either. Would recommend /10
Global Mountain Bike Network Great video lads, I really enjoyed it, it reminded me how awesome Iceland is, it’s truly epic. Also, great soundtrack too, I’d love to know what music you used.
I have ridden the highlands and a few other places in Iceland and I can't speak highly enough about Icebike adventures. Top notch company. You will never regret riding in Iceland. The place is epic, the people are awesome and the trails are endless.
Just finished watching the GCN twin vid of this. Both vids are great but I would have gone with the mountain bike for sure, even though Im a road biker 90 % of the time now. Just better control and handling on the mountain bike I would guess. I love the crossover vids you guys do with GCN and GMBN! Hope to see more of them.
I ride a xc hardtail as a commuter and for smoother trails. Short and sweet 100mm travel coil fork and wide riser bars do wonders even for bumpy streets and sidewalks. I locked it out to see how it would feel as a rigid and it's definitely not as comfortable but definitely a tiny bit faster lol
Awesome vid in a awesome looking place - started watching on my phone but scenery so breathtaking had to watch it on the TV. Still probably doesn't quite do justice to the majesty of the Icelandic landscape 😁
Completely amazing landscape! I flew above some of those same mountains on a powered paraglider in 2019, and saw many trails below. Nothing can compare! You all got to experience some of the most beautiful views in the world, for sure!
Spectacular!! From the bikes, to the video, to the gorgeous scenery! As a rider with 3 Ti bikes of my own, I loved the Moots Ti bikes featured. And that incredible scenery... Chapeau, gentlemen!!
I was always excited to see this video. But after having not long come back from Iceland on holiday and seen most of the places in this, it just made it all the more special. I will definitely be back to Iceland again, and maybe even do some riding there too. Super jealous of you guys, and what a fantastic production. Thankyou.
Dear GMBN viewers complaining about the Land Rover and the Hut, Shut up and enjoy the video, there is some beautiful scenery and some great cinematography. Good work GMBN
Yet again you guys at gmbn have added something new to my bucket list. Everytime I watch one of your adventures, it goes on the list. I thought the idea was to tick items off it, not make it longer.... Stunning scenery and a great adventure. Loved it.
Went there a few years ago to ride. Rained every day. Didn't get much riding in, but my thoughts were the same. So many amazing sights that you start to get used to it. Should be on everyone's list to visit at least once in your life.
Fabulous video. Stunning scenery, epic adventure, great bikes, excellent rider-presenters, fantastic camera work and editing. Loved it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️
Looks like I'll want to take a softail to my local XC track, next. 😁 And yes, you naughty lads. 😂 Good thing the volcano didn't decide to play tricks on you.
Another example of GMBN raising the bar in terms of ambition and production values. These travelogues are excellent! I know it should be all about the biking but a few links to flight info, accommodation, local beers or food, the area or country’s tourism website etc would be awesome.
Okay so I am not really a Mountain Bike fan but I have to give top marks to Neil and for the mighty machine that he rode here. Just seemed to just eat up the kilometres and never seemed to give Neil any trouble... weird seeing a Mountain Bike with a load of bike packing bags on it but certainly Neil made it look like it was all just a very leisurely ride in your local trails! What a fantastic video in such a stunning place to film. I think that it almost might want to make me want to ride some adventures on a Mountain bike. Absolutely loved the video and thought that it was a really fair and fantastic showcase of what you can do on a bike! Brilliant!
Si's comment on the soft tail gave me a flashback. I was a student at Bristol in 1998 and rode with the very small roadie section of the university 'mountain bike and cycling' club. I recall a trek OCLV carbon Soft Tail Pro mtb overtaking our group on the road in the Gordano Valley, rider in team kit. Probaby Oli Bekinsale.
My two favourite presenters on an epic ride. I think the GMBN video is too short. This needs to be combined with Si's GCN video to really get the true flavour of this adventure.
Being a roadie, I have to agree. For me a gravel bike is perfect if you are going for rides that are roughly 50/50 paved/unpaved or if you do a lot of road riding and want only one bike. I commute on my CX bike with my commute a mostly paved one that I can change to a mostly unpaved one on the way home if I have the time. However, this was an almost 100% unpaved journey here and the gravel bike seems out of place for that. And just imagine some rain making the tracks wet and deep... Most gravel bikes now coming to the market allow for 650b/2.1" tires which would have helped, but the MTB remains the better option for a trip like this.
I almost agree! :-) From this video one can tell, that MTB bike is overall better for this particular trip. However, take a note how different these bikes are -- there is still plenty of room in between. Both road bikes and mtb become more extreme these days and the gap is widening. Therefore, currently a "new" category of bikes is emerging: MONSTERCROSS. So far you can't buy anything of that sort in a shop, but soon they will come... You can build a monstercross yourself if you have a good quality frame of xc bike built before a year 2000.
@@4ndr3cm Almost! Or not at all, depends where you ride and how fit you are. I see three areas where Slate is not radical enough: tyres still too narrow; not enough short gears; handlebar too narrow (Google for 'dirt drop bar'). I might expand on that, if you wish
Oh, i was wrong saying that you can't buy a ready built one... Here it is: moots.com/bike/baxter-29/ If Simon have had one of these, he would ride circles around Neil...
This is one of the most beautiful rides I've ever seen. No words for it. Also that soft tail looks like a nice ride! I'd love to try one out. Keep up the amazing content boys!
Less than 50k to go! Been here from the beginning, still remember watching that first intro video. Now look at you, wow! Well done guys, my favourite channel by far
God, even watching on the laptop I was staring at that landscape in awe. Stunning! But yes, video was way too short. Would have happily watched for double that time. :)
I watched both videos and absolutely loved both. Iceland is now at the top of my wishlist for places to ride. I definitely would pick the mountain bike over the gravel just because of the terrain. Awesome ride to both. You two should have had GTN come ride so we viewers would have 3 awesome videos to watch of your Epic adventure 👍
Awesome trip I always love the GCN/GMBN collabs! What was in the bags though lol, clothes and snacks? Wish I could do my bikepacking trips not carrying days of food, bedding or shelter. That would be plush! Now I'm going to watch the other parts thanks for the epic videos!
Thanks for the best thing I've seen in ages :( GmBN are raising the bar every time:) that was epic video. Hope you're getting enough time to spend with your family. Maybe next time do a film that involves them on a bike adventure. I'm shore that would go down like in vaced virus:)) great children carrier's/ trailers and bikes on the market.. be good advising for them.. thanks to all the GMBN team for getting me back on my bike and focusing ahead.
Great video; photography, scenery & the music is top notch..... Tough choice on the bikes; but like the idea of a 'soft tail' - would like to se more of them.
