:35 - :38 is that quintessential, raw, rugged, rough, tried-and-true tone that only Neil Young has ever been able to offer to me as a listener and life-long fan, and I simply will never get enough of it... God bless Neil and all he has done for the world of music.
NEIL YOUNG SAID IT'S HIS BEST ALBUM. IT'S HIS MOST REAL ALBUM AS IN IT PORTRAYS THE MESSAGE OF NEIL 2 FRIENDS DURING PERFECTLY. MOST GREAT ALBUMS GONE IN TOUGH TIMES. WHETHER IT BE LOVED ONES DIEING OR RELATIONSHIP BREAKUPS. THIS SONG IS UNDOUTEBLEY THE BEST SONG ON TTN I LOVE THIS SONG.
There is more of Neil Young's soul in this song, and on this entire album of tonight's the night, than on any other record he's ever made. And that's saying a lot.
@@StratsRUs okay, point taken. It's probably not fair to point at any one song or album and say that that is Neil's best. He did so much first-rate work, certainly including On the beach and Zuma.
Dr Pedant writes: strictly speaking, it's a 1950 Fender Broadcaster, the forerunner of the Telecaster, before Fender were forced to change the name for copyright reasons. Neil also owned a rarely used Tele but he sold that at auction for $22,000 five years ago.
yeah exactly, lol i remember seeing him in concert playing this guitar and automatically his hand would keep going for the pickup selector switch, on the upper part of the guitar, where it is on the Les Paul...
Yes the Broadcaster - interesting! We are talking the same overall sound as 'Tele', rear pickup and neck pickup on a slab of Pine/Swamp Ash/Alder-this was the sound of Tonight's The Night eh, it makes good sense!
It's probably his 1950 Broadcaster, which he has played on and off in a few tours ever since he used it to record the album Tonight's The Night. The tune he's playing here is from that album, probably why he brought it out.
@cudaj2 It's fine. As far as I know, he only used the Telecaster on the songs on the Tonite's the NIght Album, which is why he's using it in this case.
yeah very cool, I think he recorded it on that guitar, since it was during a time when his favorite Les Paul was not working, due to a pickup being sent out to a shop for work, and then the shop went out of business...lol
Turmeric, chilli flakes, in heated olive oil, slice of wholemeal, 2 slices bacon, in a pan. Get em Happy. Crack an egg over it. That's an Alba-ker-kay. Next time: The Aztec.
