when I was young I had a friend who owned the LP with the song Like A Hurricane. I visited him so often just to hear this breath taking song again and again (thank you so much, my dear friend Cai in heaven!). - now we got spotify and YT and we can hear all these great versions. Neil - I love you forever!
There’s nothing conventional when the great man picks up his guitar he entertains on his own terms, a very talented artist who’s values remain the same.
I 1st heard this track on the old grey whistle test early 70s..l Wu's blown away by it..l Will hav this played @ my farewell..Neil is unique one off genius plus a fabulous gentleman 💯👍💯👍
You will be able to see the film from the Hammersmith Odeon (March 1976) used by the Old Grey Whistle Test when Neil’s Archives Volume 3 comes out, hopefully in the first half of 2024. It should include a film called Across The Water.
I seen him in 2004 Kansas City The Starlight Theater the venue held 5,000 people outside and loosen to Williams opened up for him it was one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen very very very good couldn't take my eyes off the stage couldn't stop dancing he played for 3 hours
There have been dozens of YT editions of Like A Hurricane videos, and the best comment I've ever read was, "halfway through [the song] Neil Young performs the second best guitar solo ever performed, to be followed by the best guitar solo ever at the end. Tbh, he had a point. Technically, there have been way better guitar solos out there, but emotionally? i doubt it. And I may have made variations on this comment before, in the other YT editions of LAH. 😁
I could kick myself in the butt a thousand times for not paying attention when neil started playing with the POTR. I love them 💗they make neil a better player.
They are Willie Nelson's sons, Lucas and Micah Nelson. Lukas heads Promise of the Real, and Micah Particle Kid. They play with their father, and are Neil's backing band. Lukas wrote many songs for A Star Is Born.
I said the same thing at Jazz Fest 2018, in a driving rain, we didn’t care. A few vids on YT of the show. Neil was having fun. He said he appreciated the hardcore crowd.
Somewhere safer where the feeling stays.....that was real ly ❤ real ly NY❤ greatly appreciated it made my day. Ans thatnk to Robert for the postings 🙂🤙!
Robert, I was at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and the bird came down with the noise of the hurricane (evening-time with spotlights). I did not see that here, this is different. Anyway it was magic. They also played those songs in this order, awesome, greetings....✌
@@lindabohannon6311 On the front of the keyboard they made it look like a bird, a dove some say. The song begins with a lot of noise...(sound of hurricane winds) the keyboard hangs on ropes above the stage and they lower it. If it is down, the song begins. "Like a hurricane". I love this song, its about a love you can't reach but the longing goes on and on.
👍 🎤 It amazes me in a way that Neil’s voice is so recognizable that after all the years he’s been performing I can recognize it’s him after hearing just the first few words. As a Baby Boomer, nearing 70, I grew up with his music and still enjoy listening to him! I’m so glad to have been born during that time, and with what I think was some of the greatest ‘contemporary’ (vs. Mozart, Beethoven, etc.) music ever, but thanks to technology now everyone has the opportunity to find and listen to it on YT IF they want!
I must have heard at least 30 different versions of 'Hurricane'. This one was a decent run through until the coda. The atonal guitar hammering and off kilter repetition of parts of the lyric showed there is still life left in this old warhorse. If I believed in a god, it would have bless Neil Young or may be it has.
Mike Hotel I‘m not sure he uses a pick much though he usually has a dozen wedged in his mike stand. He uses an invisible pick a lot, holding finger and thumb together to strike the string with the top of his forefinger. He can be more flexible that way. But I may be wrong.
@@NeilYoungUnreleased-NYU Exactly, you can see him grab a pick from the mic stand here once in a while, and then he will just drop it onto the stage when going back to fingers
Ouh là !!!!!! It was a Long Time !!! I don't understand this SONg .....!!!!!!!!;✌️😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅I AM Very VeRY ....very HAPPy ...... yES......... Ollé .........🙏😅😅😅😅😅😅❤️
Actually not by a long chalk! Not even the first performance in Europe, but nevertheless one of the earliest. See www.sugarmtn.org/sm_song.php?song=343
I am really sorry! I know the feeling! But I actually caught it just before you at the Hammersmith Odeon and I wouldn’t forget that ever! It doesn’t matter does it? Not many people saw him playing it standing in front of that big ventilator, long hair blowing in the wind. There is film of the 1976 tour coming out next year with Volume 3 of his Archives, including footage from Glasgow - the famous busking scenes and the Apollo. Once i thought i saw you in a crowded you tube bar all the likes are mine. You are like hurricane and im getting blown away. Rip it up! Now i want to hear the old laughing lady. Zuma is also a good lp.
Promise Of The Real with Willie Nelson’s sons Lukas on guitar and Micah on Synclavier. Micah is not a permanent member of the band, he has his own outfit under his name Particle Kid. Micah is a great original talent, like Neil. Lukas is more country oriented.
Do you mean Micah Nelson? He is on keyboard to Neil’s left. Brother Lukas plays rhythm guitar here. But when Neil plays Hurricane with Crazy Horse there is no rhythm guitar, Neil handles all the guitar work himself.
Bryan Black Not sure if the question is serious but it’s Corey McCormick of Promise Of The Real. He likes to jump around a lot, but he’s a good bass player, Neil likes working with them because it is said they can do more songs than the Horse! Don’t know if that’s true. Also 2 of Willie Nelson’s sons are involved on guitars/keyboard. Personally I prefer to see Crazy Horse if I can choose. Sounds like you do too!
