My husband and I live on "Sugar Mountain" in Montana . My husband is a certified pipe welder. He cut a plate and made a replica of the state of Montana and it reads " Welcome to Murrin's Sugar Mountain " Been here 30 years and it is definitely the happiest times of our 42 years together. The first time I heard this song, when I was 16 in 1979, was when my older sister and her musician friends got together on a lazy Sunday afternoon to smoke pot and have a jam session. They played this song and a few other Neil Young songs, along with some Led Zepplin as well. Whenever I hear this song I am taken back to that day when life was so happy and simple.

I used this song in my senior English classes for years for a kazilion reasons. Trying to get those heroes to slow down, look around, and see the times they were in as well as the good things that lay before them. After nearly 4 decades of teaching, I still perform the song at my guitar gigs downtown. Thank you, Neil! And yes, nick-wells, I play the song at almost all of my gigs. Carry on.

The greatest thing a writer can do is to evoke deep emotions with their writing, so true of music, and I think Neil Young has always had that gift with his music. Every song is a collage of emotion, hitting you deep from all sides.

I'm 70 next June, Always reminds me of going to Liverpool Art College 50 years ago, always makes me cry and feel loved by Mum and Dad, Thanks Neil.

Worked as a plumbers mate early 90s when a new supermarket was being built up in Thurso and the plumber always listened to Neil young and this was his favourite! At the time I thought this is old and boring! 30 years later in my mid 40s I love Neil’s music ! Thank you plumber man lol

growing up we had a sugar mountain on a farm my uncle leased for years from the Storey family in Woodbridge Ontario........... the Toronto Board of Trade Golf Course bought it and built a golf course on it, still there today............ but I had fond memories of climbing the mountain as a child, picking raspberries and delivering lunch to uncle George who was working the fields bringing in the hay on hot August days......... thank you Neil.

Sugar mountain is a special place where you always stay young, or at least you hope so. I was a dumb kid when I first heard this song but I still love Neil Young, so many memories his music has had in my life. Some good, some not but a great part of my life. Life without music would be death.

I heard this in my pediatric dentist chair the day they told me I had to move on to the adult dentist my next appointment. It was kinda perfect. It still is. Melancholy baby, that's me tofday.

Heard this song back in 1999 when my stepdad was having open heart surgery. I often wondered what year this song came out. I guess 1968 or so. Radio never played it then. Thought it may be a newer song, but, no, it was either late 1960’s or very early 1970’s. Thought I’d be the 2nd Neil Young, putting this recording out myself. Great song.
