Right out the box the Pacer can give you full foot remote control over your favourite DAW. That's a very handy thing for a guitarist! Then there's the 24 presets (all fully customisable) that cater for Line 6, Avid, Kemper, Fractal Audio and other manufacturers mainstream products - all written into the Pacer's firmware. If you're an Axe-FX III user and don't yet have a suitable MIDI control for your unit, the Pacer can help as I lightly demonstrate here. I've got it changing presets up and down, Scene switching 1-5 and a couple of effect blocks on/off. The Pacer's footswitches can be programmed to do just about anything including note sends (6 at a time!), relay switching, program changes... the works. It's a very solid unit, generously priced and super flexible. The support at Nektar is great if you need it and there are retailers all over the world. A winner for those looking for simple, tough, flexible MIDI and DAW control.

This is a modern take on an old school look for a MIDI controller... of course, it has a very welcome modern set of functions, going well beyond the original simple MIDI program changes. The price seems quite reasonable, too. Nice.

Can I change all the switches to be toggle switches in Ableton? It says on the box 1 through 10 available switches to use. I wanted to be able to use all 10 in my mini mapping but it only allows me to do 6! What the heck why?

Only disappointment is there is no pc programming utility, but you can backup/restore via sysex so some smart guy could definitely make one, I might do this if I have time. With a decent pc utilty i think it could replace the FCB1010.

I bought the FCB 1010 and returned it because I couldn't set the msb lsb values I wanted. Maybe I needed some chip or update for the software to work but it didn't. I'm wondering if this may work

HI, Anyone know if the Nektar Pacer will control the Boss Rc 505, allowing for Rec/Stop/Overdub/start for each track? i.e. One foot switch per Boss Rc 505 Track (with complete control). Apparently the Boss FCB1010 can do this but only by connecting or replacing a chip inside the Boss Hardware. Whereas the Roland FC-300 can achieve it all straight out of the box, or so I have read in forums (relating to the RC-505).

Hi. Is it possible to assign a different color for each Step? (Each of the 6 possible messages a Switch can send. So I can have visual feedback of which is the current one). Thanks beforehand

Can I program the following? LSB 000 MSB 085 Program 008? I'd like to choose performance sounds [favourites] in my JUNO-DS and it reads that in the imñlementation manual of the Juno ds

Can you use it without a DAW? i.e. Can you just trigger an external hardware drum machine or synth?

Yes and yes. DAW compatibility and facility is just one of its features. Otherwise it's a full-blown MIDI controller.

I just purchased one of these units for my Fractal Axe Fx III. Can you send me your midi/remote settings on your Fractal and the settings you use on your Pacer ? I am having a terrible time making the two communicate. Maybe do a video on program settings for both products.
