Video of the song that gives name to the production of the Nelson brothers in 1990, this song came to Guinness Book of Records after to be the third generation of his family to have a record in a number one of charts
This hit home for so many of us 'metalhead teens' who had this home life and the only thing that kept us alive, literally, was putting on that music and going far away!
30 years ago I was laying in my bed as a teenager, listening to this on Casey's Top 40, and living the best times of my life! Thank you RU-vid for allowing me to travel back to those days!

For those of you who still love Nelson, I am with you there! I have loved them since they came out when I was a teen, and I actually met them once! They are very sweet, kind gentlemen! :) Would love to see them again. They were awesome back then, and as far as I'm concerned, they still are to this day. Love Nelson!
I will freely admit I had the cassette tape when it came out & love their music. I don't care if I get flack bout it they are good musicians & their dad would be very proud of them
I love blasting this on a freeway on warm summer nights with the windows down and a full moon over the hills. Feels like a different time and place especially when they really belt it out. If I ever see these guys in a concert it will be the pantheon of my concert desires
I also Grew Up in The 80's I also liked Nelson I Still like The 80's Hair Bands Still and I am 34yrs old Now it is nice to see some other People that grew up in The 80's
I was at this video shoot. I went on a whim after hearing about it on Pirate Radio. Everyone had to wear white shirts so they could fade us in. It was lots of fun. :)
Look in the mirror girl, by now you should know You're living in a fantasy, and you can't let go He never really loved you from the start The only thing he ever gave you was a broken heart Don't be afraid to lose what was never meant to be After the rain washes away the tears And all the pain Only after the rain You live again I know the emptiness you feel inside You're thinking if you break away, you'll never survive I'm waiting as my heart beats just for you Come on and take my hand and I'll pull you through But things will never change until you want them to After the rain washes away the tears And all the pain Only after the rain You live again After the rain You'll see the sun appear to light the way Only after the rain Can you hope to find true love again He never really loved you from the start The only thing he ever gave you was a broken heart Come on and take my hand and I'll pull you through You know the time has come for you to face the truth After the rain washes away the tears And all the pain Only after the rain You live again You'll see the sun appear to light the way Only after the rain Can you hope to find true love again After the rain
These twins Gunner and Matthew were so extremely good looking in the 80"s and even now ... Even though both of these men are happily married oh be still my heart !!!
In the 80's I was lost and looking for direction. I thought I was weak to listen to bands like this...I have come to love what is really new music to me. Thanks for the post
Saw this video when I was a kid (6yrs) and both my brother and I started picking up brooms and pretended we were playing guitars. Now both of us play in bands. We've come a long way thanks in part to this video.
Guilty of owning this tape as a teenager, haha. I'd all but forgotten about it until a few weeks ago when my wife and I were helping my mom clean out their basement and we found my shoebox of tapes I used to keep in my room in high school. My old pickup has a tape deck in it- my wife and I had a good old time singing along all the way home, haha.
And to think that i thought it was cheesy, typical music (that i still liked!) back then! If i had known what was coming down the pike 20-30 years later i would have soaked it up with abandon. :/
+Chuck Norris i played cards with these guys.same age as me.they wrote song in upstairs in home in madison.indiana.me and my 2 friends were 1st to here song upstairs .i told them its a girly song.other 2 guys had no comment.their fan club came from Chicago, they played in yard.fans loved it.
Reminds me of when I lived in a trailer. I had a tiny room just like that. But a completely different vibe. I had my TV with cable, a NES, and a stereo. Happy times there.
This is a song Matt and Gunner played for me in person after immense struggles all 3 siblings had gone thru, and they could not have written a more perfect song to express their real life positive can do attitude!
I forgot how beautiful this song is, the intro is wonderful, that bass guitar work is nice, Oh and I want hair like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Killer!
I havn't watched it in forever either...I was doing laundry and it just popped in my head lol. Had a bummer week and really been rethinking how I want my life to be and I really loved this song in high school.
Dammit...I can't lie.....I liked this song. As far as pop rock goes, it's not so bad....where they screwed up was making the videos....that's when we all recoiled in horror.
+Embers me too. my father said Id never amount to anything and yet here I am a professional truck driver and even outlasted him. I had the satisfaction of throwing it up in his face as I laughed. He made a rookie mistake and it cost him his entire career.
I was 8 years old and I remember this and INXS were my first two records I owned. I played the shit out of this album. I haven’t heard this song in over 25 years and I still remember it all. I’m older now and can actually appreciate just how great it really is.
im so blessed that i was born in 1981..and had a chance to listen, explore the glory days of music in the 70s 80s 90s..best era in music...not the trash music scene of the 2000s...but still though there were great music brought to the table by 2000s..
I grew up listening to Nelson they are truly a great fantastic rock band. And I don't care what people think or say about me. never did and I never will. Nelson is one of those great fantastic rock bands that has respect for themselves and has respect for their fans. Also Nelson does not use foul language, they don't use sex or drugs, or anything bad like that in their music, they are a fun clean rock band who enjoys playing music for their fans and for themselves. And I will continue to listen to Nelson until they stop playing rock music which I don't see that happening anytime soon. This is why I do not listen to a lot of rock bands today anymore too much of them have no respect for themselves or for their fans. Music should be for enjoyment not to abuse the way a lot of bands or singers do it today it's terrible how other bands and singers do not have respect for themselves or their fans or for the music business either it's just a shame. I am glad & grateful for a band like Nelson. Speaking of Nelson we're going to be going into 2018 soon and I truly do hope Nelson is going to be during a new CD in the spring or the fall sometime . Has been a while since they had did anything new when it came to music or had put a new CD out. I would so love to hear new music by Nelson.
I love this video alot because when I had a bad day at work or having a rough relationship with your boyfriend or something the song after the rain can cheer you up.
About the feather in the end, I found something interesting:"The generalised meaning of feathers signified honor & connected the owner with the Creator and the bird the feathers came from. Native Indian warriors were awarded a feather when they took coup or were particularly brave in battle. " I see what you did there, Nelson.
As a "Metalhead" this is one of my all time guilty pleasures. Although the video doesn't really have anything to do with the lyrics, I still love it. Like the outro guitar solo fade out too.
Ahh man, this video makes me sad because music, let alone the world itself, seemed so much simpler and happier. Hard to let go of good stuff like this!
Remember the days before auto tune? And entire generation, and every future generation, not experiencing "real" music or actual privacy. It's incredible really. I'm glad I was born before the internet and cell phones and computerized EVERYTHING. Though I love the technology too... I'm just grateful I got both worlds. :D
Kristine Az No "real" music now? My favorite bands are new... And yes, I was born a while back, so I did experience no Internet and all that jazz.. Circa survive, dance gavin dance, sianvar, hail the sun, tides of man...... Saying there is no "real" music after the 90's is just plain ignorant and stupid. By the way, there has been "auto-tune" for a long long time, they just didn't use it like some artists now.
Of all songs to use as an example of the way music "used to be" ....you pick this. You pick friggin Nelson. I'll bet your music collection looks like an exploded abortion clinic.
My mother was like that through my high school days and even after graduation. She complained about the heavy metal and hard rock I listened to, my long hair and how I was nothing but a failure while my father who was in the military supported what I stood for. I still stand for what I believe in even to this day.
I honestly believe it happens because they wanted to be Rockstars to begin with. The natural reaction it's to discourage their kids from trying to do so because they might fear they can actually become one instead of giving up like they did in the past. Same with trying to be an activist, artist, writer, entrepreneur...
