Lousy visual quality but amazing that this clip survived! Nelson's voice in his mid 60s was as strong as ever. Interview segment with Merv Griffin where, no matter how Nelson tries to promote his nightclub act with Gale (and an upcoming New York appearance at the Latin Quarter), what is really wanted is for him to sing one of his best loved songs; they oblige with "Indian Love Call." How many thousands of times did Nelson sing this song in his life?

Extra fascinating to me since I've read "Sweethearts". A complex man. Was in a happy relationship with Gale.....but never stopped loving Jeanette!!!!!!!

А Джанет наверно очень скрывала свои чувства что Нельсону не было особенно весело.

Translation: And Jeanette must have been very secretive about her feelings that Nelson wasn't having much fun.

Love Merv's comment when Nelson first speaks. "Ah, there's the voice".

Now that made me tear up. When he sang The Indian Love Song. Reading Sweethearts right now.

I can’t get over how understated and modest Nelson is in this interview. When he was with Jeanette, he was brash, very masculine and so confident. Ms. Sherwood is a great singer but she constantly elbows him out. The Indian Love Song sounds awful without Jeanette’s lovely, longing response to Nelson’s full and ardent call. The chemistry just doesn’t work. I wonder if Nelson felt the loss every time.

Nelson got the reality check he needed, but sadly it came too late.

🎶🎶I have mixed feelings with his interview. It made me sad because I would rather see of course are Nelson with his Jenny🌹🎶🌹!! But I was glad to see he chose someone different than Jeanette!! Not try to find someone who could duplicate her in someway!! Sad to say I was never really happy to see Nelson work with Gale😥 Thanks!! You are able to see Our Nelson really enjoyed sing with His Jeanette the most just by the way he looked at his Beautiful, Beloved Jeanette 🎶🥰🎶🌹Jo Ann

Translation: It's nice to see Eddy at least sometimes inspired and cheerful, maybe even happy? Maybe the young one appreciated him. Thank you. If she and Jeanette had lived as old people in the same family, they would have lived together for a long time to a ripe old age.

I imagine the older gals recalled the handome young mounties and the older guys got an eye fill of the gorgeous young soprano.

I think most folks agreed with you but were glad to see Nelson live, even if it was in a nightclub type setting, singing with someone else. Jeanette wasn't up to such a lifestyle, nor was it one that she personally liked.

This is a marvelous interview definitely more than just a stage couple.

Это было уже по современному. Гейл должна была соответствовать времени это бизнес .Нельсон хорошо понимал эту необходимость .ему надо было одеть джинсы ковбойку .но он не догадался.
