Do you know how study of music in Russia,Tchechrepublik,Poland,Serbia looks like? The critetia are enormous high and unachivable for the people who did not start learning piano or any other instrument there, under east european system…People from west, aside Germany and Austria, have mostly not a single chance to achieve that level. And yes,one can not even knock on the door of music academy without fluent reading of a score…
This makes me want to cry. Nelson was not only an amazing pianist. He was also a great human being. I had the opportunity to attend many of his concerts and recitals and always left the concert hall feeling grateful for his existence..
emptiness but....mort, oû est ta victoire...?? , jewish vertical stones in cemetery...
They're so genuinely kind and charismatic. Two of the greatest artistic geniuses that South America (Brazil and Argentina, two brotherly countries despite all the fake football rivalries) ever produced and clearly two very easygoing and nice people that anyone would like to meet and talk with. Btw, it was nice to hear Argerich speaking in such a charming, sweet Portuguese, I didn't know she spoke Portuguese. RIP, Nelson Freire, and I hope his lifetime friend Argerich stays us with us many more years.
Nelson Freire's death was a regrettable loss. In addition to being an excellent pianist, a quiet, introspective personality and always modest, despite his recognized grandeur. My feelings to the widower, Mr. Miguel Rosário and his entire family.
They really cherish each other's company. The scene were they clean the piano is loveable. True friends. Two piano geniuses enjoying every minute of it.
What a treat this is ! Two of the greatest pianists ever, both being so disarmingly nice and funny. You feel like you could have a drink and a laugh with them anytime. What a pity that Nelson isn't among us anymore. Hopefully Martha will go on for a long time to come. Here's a woman who gets older yet never ages.
I don't know what Nelson Freire was like in reality. But I have always perceived him as a beautiful and good person. And I've always liked his Art. Fortunately, these visual documents and audio recordings exist. Who knows Martha's pain for this great loss. They were really great friends. And they certainly continue to be in Essence.
If the term "soulmates" is applicable to any two people, Argerich and Freire have to be o top of that list. Together, playing music or just hanging out, they became one thing, a magical thing that put us all in a state of grace.
Thank you for this beautiful video! A beautiful friendship…. A great loss of an amazing artist. RIP Nelson Freire. A devastating loss for Martha - 61 year friendship 😪😔
This is a part of o documentary of Nelson's life..touching.. I had the pleasure of listening to him sometimes and talking to him. A humble genius! Truly a great loss
Poignant to see him enjoying Errol Garner,, indeed the joy of playing a n d hearing the joy in Garner's playing...share Freire's wish to be able to play jazz....with friends and my son!
I attended countless Freire concerts here in São Paulo, and looking back now I wish I could've attended more! And I couldn't be more thankful for this video - the wake of Nelson's passing earlier on this month obviously brought me here, since as a Brazilian national I'm still mourning the loss of one of our best musicians. His friendship with Martha is legendary, but to see the actual dynamics there involved is absolutely priceless. Also Martha, parabéns pelo seu portugês!
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1016">16:56</a> Foi quando comecei a chorar. R.I.P, Nelson Freire.
Together they are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC sorry we don’t have anymore Nelson, I’m lucky enough to be able to be in a concert he was playing Was not a concert was a landmark Adore both of them
Their friendship is so charming. I love to see the smiles on their faces, especially on Martha's face at "<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1027">17:07</a>" when Nelson plays Schumann/Liszt so beautifully. 🥰🥰👌👌
Such a relief to see that people like Marta Argerich have to get into a new piece, too, first. Doing sight reading. I sometimes still think they just start playing everything 😊
It is difficult to listen to Nelson's recordings now without weeping that he has lost his life. For the last two years often forced by circumstances of the world pandemic restrictions I have collected his recordings and watched so many performances and clips on this channel but the real sadness is that despite having tickets for two of his last concerts in the UK where both were cancelled due to his accident I will never meet him or hear him play live. For his friends family and colleagues it is a huge loss and continued sadness; no-one can say better than they how he suffered due to not being able to play; I can only imagine this was agony for him. Such a wonderful human being who devoted his life to music, May he now rest in peace.
What a treasure for now and posterity! Thanks Will; beautiful work. We need to get back to this kind of artistry, from humble and noble souls. Great stuff. They can actually make classical music fun. Love his not to the envy of jazz and the great Errol Garner. When the performer has fun, we have fun. We see some more fun coming in the budding artists of our time. Lots of people can play well; playing with undisguised pleasure creates a new dimension. Love the piano topped ramshackle scores. Just playing is more compelling than being organized.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="1098">18:18</a> only Nelson Freire could impress Martha Argerich like that. Then again, he was on another level most people never realized because he was so humble and so unpretentious. It took the profound intimacy between those two, and this awesome documentary by João Moreira Salles to provide us with a window into this magical world they shared for more than sixty years.
Aaah…. Heaven at last!!!!……… Didn’t want this to end!!……….. As a jazz composer and short story writer I confess…….. I didn’t want this to end!! Somehow……. I’ve always imagined a Smokey parlor in the south of France….. where me and my lover would lie around all day ….. writing beautiful ballads……… making love……… order food…… write more…. make more love…….. ect. LIFE IS MUCH TOO SHORT PEOPLE!! There’s nothing more romantic than two people who are dedicated to beautiful music……… and the art of being in love…….the kind that bleeds into the musical pieces they write together…… The kind of love…….. that if she goes into the next room to bring the coffee………you begin to miss her….. ………….. AND …. SHE…. KNOWS….. Passion in the arts…… it’s not dead…. ……… it will NEVER DIE…… as long as love exists in the UNIVERSE!!!!! I don’t know if Martha and Nelson are lovers…….. I just met them 30 minutes ago. I’ll have to research these two…… impeccable musicians!!……. Interesting duet arrangement…… love it!! Their chemistry is undeniable! Bravo you 2………. It looks like you seized the day!!! Carpe Deim🕯
Thanks……… I never got around to researching these 2. It’s a peculiar thing…. life… Most of my 6 decades of existence have been spent writing the quintessential short story or song……. imbued with the trappings of serendipitous happenstance of love delivered through cupids arrow………. Yet…….. even acquiring the platonic bless apparent with these 2 in this short film is monumental……however, illusive ….. lol Then again……… I’ve ran full speed AWAY from more potential encounters than I dare admit…. …. From red flags ( either real, or imagined).. Lol Was it from FEAR….. or WISDOM……???👀 Or maybe….. the universal quest for exclusive bonding;……at least for certain poets among us,…… somehow becomes inadvertently exchanged with the sheer “ depths of passion” embodied in the chase itself……..??? perhaps the carnal attraction with “ unrequited love “ ; for our poetic dreamer’s; has an allure.. ……. that harbors a sublime addiction ….. to its guarantee of “ pain “…. in turn….. supplying “ content “ ….. for more stories and songs???…. Ummm???…..lol Whichever the case…….. the quest…. EAGERLY CONTINUES… lol Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 🎼RAIN RAIN🎼
Thank you for sharing this video. It’s so beautiful to see that loving friendship between two great musicians who live the same passion for music in mutual respect and admiration. A very moving moment. Is there a DVD of this doc? ❤️
