David Sanborn and Nelson Rangell...That's like trying to compare kiwi to mango, both are great fruits and have lots to offer in their own way. Sanborn comes from a different era and genre of Jazz, influenced my old school musicians and sitting in sessions, which creates a different style from different experiences. I just enjoy their music and don't try to compare.

Its ok to have more than 1 fave of something, Melvin. Nelson's sound is no way even the same as Grover's or Art Porter's or a number of deceased musicians. Rangell is pretty unique.
he only acknowledged his keyboardist. what about the other artists. I live in Orlando, Florida not far from your show. haven't heard from you lately. wonder why. our jazz station is gone.
If this drummer woulda kept the music steady throughout then this tune would've been the great piece it truly is....not too happy with his performance...
In my opinion, Nelson Rangell and David Sanborn are not even in the same class. I am a huge Sanborn fan......hands down Rangell is very commercial......which isn't to say that I do not like his sound. There is just no comparison between the two.

The musicians are excellent, obviously. The quality of youtube compression not so much. Low rates should be disabled or the video should be deleted and uploaded using 720p only.
kefsound who cares about the quality, they didn't have that high res in 2009. I hate it when they take a black and white film and make it colored, it's fine as it is.
He's a decent enough player, but he's a little full of his own horn. I know guys who have played with him and they say he's a bit of a prima donna. And he's definitely no David Sanborn...the different is star and superstar ranking.
Daemyon Zatarga hold up, slow your roll... Rangell just doesn't have as large a following and work experience as Sanborn.. no way is he less talented.....
