Dainty Adore was a large personality who adored singing and Nelson too and wanted to spend some time with him on his birthday. Nelson, however, ended up having to spend money on her before the evening ended. Video by Nelson Sullivan
There’s no one left to tell from Nelson’s life, but all the same I just have to express gratitude at how much these videos helped me get through a rough year. I watched these on a lot of sleepless nights.
I feel in my soul through and through this is the world I belonged to in a previous life and feel unimaginable comfort watching these videos or anything that can transport to that era. I'm probably a bit earlier, more 1970s, but this is where I feel at home. I walk the streets in the Village longing to meet with some comparable experiences one might have stumbled onto so many years ago but those days are sadly a fading vista on a distant horizon.
R.I.P Nelson Sullivan 07/04/1989 Can we just go back to these times ,for the party's atleast no one be on there phones snap chatting ect.. It's nice real human interaction in these videos I love it.
The beat of heels on the concrete. The beat of the heart. The beat of distance bass coming from a nightclub... the beat that speaks to every soul! There truly is something profound in that beat, wherever it may sound.💖
If you're not a writer, become one! All I needed to read were your feelings in this paragraph and your spelling, but most importantly...the way it was written with you using the descriptive wording. I also _know_ you are already well on your way ❗✏📕
hey! Jesus died for our sins and rose again! because of him we can have everlasting life and escape death, which is the wage of sin! God bless y'all and whoever reads this!!!
It's a window into moments in time that would otherwise be lost, if not for Nelsons filming. I think it's quite humbling to watch these events as I don't think the subjects could have imagined we'd be watching them in 2018. A moment of their lives captured and preserved, outliving them and representing the time in which it was filmed. It's like snatching back a moment of life from oblivion.
Because time always passes and memories fade. You never realize that your in an important moment in your life during it. This was the present moment for nelson and now it's gone it's over 30 years since this night.
@45 Jugga because he basically vlogged every day, but in the 80s. It's almost like he knew that vlogging was gonna be one of those things everyone ends up doing. He died in 1989. Maybe he was a time traveler.
dude the 80s wasn't the dark ages. Just because he's filming/vlogging doesn't mean much. My mum's friend's made vlogging videos in the 70s, in Bali of all places. Im lucky I have older parents, but I think most young people have this naive idea that they are the first to do a lot of things.
Green - why aren’t you making them share them? I know we had tons of home movies when I was a child. I love watching these and if you don’t share them with the world, they aren’t useful at all.
To know that people are watching your videos that have been taken years ago is quite something man im from scotland and its really cool as an 19 year old to see things like this a real bit of history but also the similaritys of today
Hello there... ive been watching your channel only recently and i know many of these people are not with us today ~ but i really find it fascinating that they are immortalized in these vlogs along with the architecture and cars all these years later they have been put out for weirdos like me to be all fascinated by... best wishes. From an eccentric paranormal and personal channel.
MrShed-in-the-peg just been viewing some family videos from 1960s, of my parents and their parents, and they all still around.. so thought late 80s was quite hopeful for anyone middle-aged or below :(
Many in these videos are still alive, but many were ill, or living fast, partying lives, etc. Or sometimes people just die suddenly, as was the case with several people in these.
No, just a lot of coke and exstacy. But not real dangerous. The mob was in full swing, but they only killed other members of the mob. So really it wasnt that bad except for muggings. But you only got mugged if you were caught walking alone late at night through battery park or harlem or something like that.
Dangerous for gays,,,,,very dangerous! I admire the guts it took to pave the way to present times ,,,,,but BE SAFE,it is still a hostile world towards gays in plenty of places and settings ! Be safe 🇨🇦 🏳️🌈 🌈 🙊 🙉 🙈
OmygOodness .. how did I find this tonight.. these videos recorded 33 yrs ago? How is this possible? These don’t really exist from back then.. this is rare.. people living their lives in the 80s
Keep watching I’ve seen every single one You really get to know these people in an intimate way You end up feeling like they’re your friends ! Specially Nelson!
They are soo fantastic! Nelson ,he filmed all of these videos, was a great guy. Some of the _crowd_ he was with were bad _evil_ _ seeds_ ❗ Michael and Angel met their demise. If you don't know the story and if you are going to watch these videos, maybe you _should_ investigate what happened or you can wait until the end of Nelson's video library and then look up Angel murdered by Michael .
The famous Chelsea..somebody or possible RuPaul, needs to make a documentary on Nelson. He was the first vlogger, exposed a lot of famous people from back then and has a lot of history recorded from the lovely 80s in New York City. When indeed it was such an interesting time.
He definitely deserves a documentary!!!! The first vlogger should get his respect and time on the big screen. But without the support of his famous friends I think it will be hard to get the financial backing for a movie about a person few know about
"And I want to thank him on behalf of....everyone ....for not letting the poor children of New York go starving and the the poor dainty drag queens who need French toast and sausage."
The dangers of merely existing whilst watching the only ones whom've ever accepted you pass from AIDS & losing on both sides left a person with no one caring about them-- you'd never know until these candid videos how people learned to dance in the rain. The bleak shine of only a sliver of moon in the deep darkness of NYC in the 1980's is found here. Enticing to watch when all you knew was decastation upon reflection within the community. I could imagine these videos could serve as a type of therapy from CPTSD acquired during these times. ❤🎉

Nelson was a good guy. He really cared for his friends but many didn’t treat him as well back. I heard after he died some of his so called friends took things from his apt including video tapes. Took his dog as well as other things..sad just very sad. I would had loved Nelson . I would have appreciated him . To many of these so called club people and weirdos were very narcissistic. It’s like everything was about them. Only cared for themselves. People and friends were there to just use.Anyways this guys voice is driving me batty. I can’t handle it.. Ty for this upload though. Not one of favs..
...as Michael Musto said in an interview on "The 12 Most Nightmarish Nightlife People in NYC History...and I quote : *_The chubby little drag queen actually had a proficient operatic voice, but she was so aggressive about trying to make a name for herself that I didn't always Adore her._*
I heard Dainty was very pushy sexually and very flirtatious. I heard this from a real friend of his. I like him though. Fuck it I like Musto too but he can be a pretentious asswipe.
I wonder what became of Dainty, she was one of Nelson' s subjects that didn't go on to do bigger things. I know of an article from the LA Times but she disappears after 1995.
And.... maybe a French fry. That's how you hail a cab. My treat, whoops, I've forgot my wallet. Oh no, I'm not very familiar with dainty but my initial thought is.... "not one of those friends!" Hate when you're stuck paying on your bday.
We need to find her, no matter what the out come, because she's a star. She braked my heart. And she really loves the business. Does anyone know her real name ??
Adore O' Hara was my neighbor on N. Curson Avenue in Hollywood in 1977-78. Adore O' Hara was his legal name, but his birth name was Goldgerg or Goldblum or something like that. What you see in these film clips is exactly who Adore was 24/7, and that took some guts in 1977. A diva whose studio apartment was full of vintage treasures, my shopping buddy on Melrose Avenue. I believe she is in the great cabaret in the firmament of heaven now.
@@strnglhld Mitchell Allan Marco ,imagine that! I don't recall him mentioning that name at all, but so much one can't recall from that era! I hope he had friends in the end.
@Hal Colombo Adore’s mother was Leah Goldman, father was Benny Marcovitch (shortened to Marco later on) Leah’s surname “Goldman” is on Adore’s and her brothers’ California birth records, Leah’s 1938 marriage to Benny, and Benny’s naturalization record
I think this is one of the last videos that Dainty adore o' Hara was in of Nelson Sullivan's ?? Because shortly after. Dainty left New York City for California.
i used to take quentin crisp to the empire for lunch my granny has a bespread jus like dainty's cape. 2 di 4 someday nelson will be studied in college ....early vlogs 101
