I remember my own experience driving to Cape Town and back in a Yaris. All in 18 hrs, without a driver's licence 😅 my dad had just ran the Two Oceans marathon and his legs were finished so I had to do the work. He took over from JHB to Pretoria. It felt like I needed to be taken in a wheelchair from the car to my bed when we arrived home 😂😂😂.
If you drive your BMW like a new driver then yes it is definitely reliable But if you drive it like a bmw/polo driver, you'll see engine lights in your dreams
It's impressive that you drive 1000+ kilometers and slept in Hanover and still had a remaning 700+ kms to Cape Town. Resting is important not just for drivers but for the car as well. My wife and I live in the North West but when we from Eastern Cape. It's 1023 kilometers from NW to EC so when we go we usually sleep in Bloemfontein, then wake up next day finish the journey. It's the least we can do for a VW Polo 8-year old car. We try not to ask too much from it. We've never had car problems, the car has full service history but we see a lot of people on the N6, N1, N2 stuck.
Your return trip reminds me of my own CT to Soweto on the 23 January 2020 trip. I had just gone for buying my second e46 (with beloved M54 engine). Mainly needed to do it for psychological reasons, after incurring a near-fatal head injury (TBI) in a car accident. With the exception of hotel stays, and the expenses - of course, i truly enjoyed this lifetime experience. Alone! The plan since then is to drive down and back, again. Only this time with my kids. Hopefully, in a much newer BMW, soon. Thank you for another excellent content.
To put the cost of fuel into perspective, in December 2020 i drove from Cape Town to JHB and back again in a 1.0TSi Polo. In total it cost around R2200. On the way up I refuelled in Three Sisters and Kimberley. On the way back i refuelled at Bloemfontein and Three Sisters. Average consumption was around 5l/100km for the whole trip. Driving the speed limit mostly
Awesome swift long distance review. Opted for baleno manual brand new, 3days old now. I am happy with my choice...cheer peaceful driving at a price I can comfortably afford. Just struggling to set fuel reading on L/km reading and to check km on the clock. Thank you Muzi 🎉
On my swift i just pressed the left knob on the rev counter side while simultaneously twisting the right knob on the speedometer side to the right then it will change the setting. Make sure you're looking at the average fuel consumption display before doing all this. Hope it works the same on your Baleno🤘
This was a very good series. Very informative, very interesting and it gives most of us who'd like to do this, at least kayi one 😂, an idea of what you'll be dealing with. I don't blame you on the feeling towards hotels. It kind of shows they're not meant for long-term stays (unless you've taken a penthouse suite)
From 02 to 10 January 2024, I drove from Pretoria to Cape Town and back on Kia Cerato, and it is just over 260 000 km. I have owned the car since 2011. The average fuel consumption was at 6.6 litters / 100km. The five seater was fully loaded with luggage and passengers (my family). Cost for petrol was more or less R4000. We slept at Colesberg, going and coming back. My colleagues didn't believe when I told them that I'm gonna drive the 12 years old car with over 260 000 km of it's life.
I can relate with one. If you are in Cape town to avoid traffic and truckleave try at midnight or in the early hours of the morning and your breakfast at Beaufort West
King, this 2 part series is beautiful and very relevant to me particularly because I'll be driving to Cape Town in June, what I'll be driving is a little bigger than the Swift and I know I will not get anywhere near that fuel efficiency. Beautiful content.
Love the way you take care of your babies 🚙 ... funny in reality the trip home always feel shorter... I enjoyed your vlogs ✌ ❤... I bet 60% of your people in Nelspruit will never see Capetown but vice verse!... which make you so blessed, Take care ❤
Got myselft suzuki baleno last year because of this guy and i dont regret it am very much happy with mu choice...thumbs up bro, keep doing the good work
Hai Muzi, you fell for the wiper blade trick that you told us not to fall for. R500+ for wiper blades when you can get a per of high quality Bocsh wiper blades for R100.
Musi..thanks for great video..doing trip from Knysna to White River and Kruger in a Kia Sonet soon..I hope Suzuki bring in the facelift Swift this year as I will clean up the market even more than now..The hybrid would be a top seller depending on price..
Thank you, at least someone is on my side. aii lenna food at the hotel or fast food in general and restaurant they are unreal for me. Anyway, your trip to cape town reminds that I still have to go back. I have some unfinished business there. And I want to drive to cape town with my Tcross. I was told not to do it but then I need my own experience.
And when you respond to this, respond knowing that "soon" you will need to drive that Suzuki to Limpopo for my house warming party. You and mama snowy gotta pull thru bra. Will send ya the official invitation as time goes on buddy

Was in Cape Town at the end of November, drove in a Hyundai H100 bakkie,I can relate to most of the road trip vibes Muzi is talking about,I only hated the stops and go's due to road works, coz after them u have a mission to overtake a lot of trucks to clear your road
Yeah hotel life inobuCreepy nyana I prefer self catering as they give that home vibe. Thank you for sharing your journey from Nelspruit to Cape Town and back 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Lol that’s what editing is all about my brother.. We don’t want artwork or beaches, we wanna know how much shxt costs 😂 props for including the random clips though 😂
