Kaz, good, concise summary. Off the top of your head, have you heard of any long acting dewormers being developed that could be used in lambs which could eliminate the need for accurate timing of the deworming agent? Thank you.
I think my lambs got this as a good few of them never thrived or grew properly. I still have some of those lambs dying off now. Is this infectious to older lamb/sheep? I ask as they are in the same field as them. Thinking of separating them.
Could be any number and combination of things tbh - you’ll be best off having a chat with your vet! Older sheep should have good immunity to Nematodirus.
Top video again thanks kaz👍 I'm wondering do white wormers have any lasting affect on parasites in the lambs system? I mean will they kill worms/eggs taken on day a few days after drenching for example? Thanks mate.
Hi Dominic, the short answer is: it varies but we're not really sure. The longer answer is it depends on temperature. The cooler it is the more survive generally, at 11oC 50% survive for 280 days (!), while fluctuating temperatures of 14-20oC mean 50% survive for 55 days.
