Hey Cammy! Bought that Zolvix gun after you mentioned it before. It is unreal!

I find the more I listen to you, the better I understand your accent! I recently had my DNA tested and found that I am 21% Scottish! Now I am even more drawn to your videos. My ancestors were probably sheep farmers as well!

Great video! I do believe after dosing with Zolvix you should be putting sheep back on to dirty pasture and not clean. Reason being, the Zolvix is not 100% as any wormer is and you do not want the ones that are left behind (most resistance) to breed and multiply on your clean pasture. By putting them back on to dirty pasture you are essentially diluting the ones left behind from Zolvix with the other worms on your farm, meaning less resistance over time.

We had a problem with worm resistance in our lambs this year. We used an Ivermectin (clear) and it did nothing. Got the vet out and he told us to use zolvix and explained everything as you have. The only thing the vet said different was to use zolvix every other year and a purple drench every other year. Basically zolvix one year, purple the next to save any resistance happening to them. In the states we don’t have zolvex and I have never heard of the color schedule to drench sheep. This video was so informative. Thank you.

I'm used to dealing with horses & oral wormers. The guidance is to use a different type of wormer each time, worms are seasonal so the same brand/type of wormer just won't work all year round, plus (as you said) it helps stop resistance. To me, it's common sense to use different ones throughout the year.

Great video Cammy! Pple need to know more about this stuff. I had to learn about it 2,3 year ago when I bought in sheep with worm resistance..burst me balls that yr.. also the only time I've ever got dung samples done. I dose same as yourself white then clear only time I use zolvix (apart from above when I found out about it) is buying in stock, the local vets here are reluctant to sell it as a 'flock dose'. I blame reps and the likes for worm resistance they were flat out for years telling pple to dose everything all the time and no need to be at it atall

Great video. I’d class myself as a pretty crap farmer in terms of money making, but I do go “by the book” with worming! I use a cocktail of various drugs when I get new sheep in and Zolvix is one. Great product. I do FEC every three months for worms and fluke and as such, I haven’t had to worm/fluke any of my existing sheep since March 2019 (other than their arrival cocktail!). Costs more to do this for me but means I don’t have to worm randomly, I’m hoping to learn how to do my own FEC so I can minimise costs in future! Ever fancy doing a video on FEC? Maybe a vet/trained farmer/lab tech showing you how it’s done etc and benefits of checking regularly? :)

Great Video, enjoyed it, I was using a Zolvix gun, and I like using it, but it stopped drawing the wormer up, I liked the gun you were using for Crovect, it would certainly be easier on the hand you used, we dosed everything on the farm recently, can't remember off the top of my head( Cydectin Possibly) I think it covers all stages of fluke, and the wormer we used earlier in the season did not contain a flukicide

Good video. I used to use Startect but it is very astringent. The sheep gag on it a lot. Don’t have that issue with Zolvix. I alternate the drenches with Q Drench.

I went to a talk promoting zolvix where I managed to piss the rep off by saying that as the product is so expensive, there would inevitably be product left behind with the new delivery method. If the bottle had a reservoir in the base, it could empty more efficiently. Glad my criticism was warranted. I think under dosing has been a major contributor to worm resistance. Looks like the extra cost of Zolvix is worth it with the current worthwhile lamb prices.

Great video👍 use zolvix here for any bought in stock to clear them out. I was gonna use it this year for the third dose after the white and yellow but used moxodex instead which is a cydectin based dose. It worked very well. Might use zolvix next year instead.

It's interesting this kind of thing to me. I don't know much about worming treatment because my shearer doses my little flock when he comes. If I need any otherwise I get it from my vet because it's expensive to buy for a small flock. As my flock gets a bit bigger I'm considering getting some so I can dose myself but it's so hard to know what to get.

I’ve used Zolvix on my hill ewes on my vets advice since it first came out, initially I just wanted it for the gun !! But it is a great product 😊

Cammy you should let viewers know that they should wear disposable gloves when dosing because these chemicals absorb through the pores in your skin and may cause cancer and other long term illnesses and also orf etc can be passed from animal to human.i learned that the hard way.big fan by the way.

Very interesting video. Never heard of zolvix. We just rotate between the old ones so that be one for the future. Do you not dose for fluke at this time?? Super lambs you have that's the breed of sheep we keep they make super mothers and cross them with Suffolk ram. Thanks for video keep them coming look forward to them.

There is another "class" of wormer that people rarely talk about. Copper Wire Particle bolus. CWP is part of my annual rotation for ewes. And is saves the lambs that just won't respond to other wormers.

Never heard of zolvix but will ask my supplier if they stock it. We don't have so much of a issue with worms on our hill ground compared to the crofts with nice grass. I also want one of those guns........

Another interesting video, have yet to use zolvix myself. We give all our long keep lambs an injectable wormer (dectomax) normally seems to do the same job. Will you be shearing the ewe lambs.

Cant find Zolvix in the US..but in four years I’ve never had sheep get worms. I move them to new pasture every three days. My problem using spray is that there is no convincing lunatic “organic fiber’ buyers that this is not considered a ‘pesticide’ and completely washes out! But in the US we have to disclose every medication and treatment even baby inoculations!

Did you keep the lambs off pasture and on concrete for 24 hours after dosing like he said ?

Should the zolvix be saved until a last resort so we slow a resistance to it ? Because it’s only killing the worms resistant to other drenchs in the lamb and not ones that would already exist on the field. Try drench and then keep stock in yard or back to same pasture so resistant worms either breed with none resistant (refugia) or can not survive on concrete or bare soil. Drench program is key and a good grazing rotation relevant to the worms life cycle in your area

Wouldn’t it be better to do dung samples first to see what the problem is in terms of worm burden, then dose accordingly. Save time and more importantly money on dose.

I like you're channel, but you're breeding resistant worms, instead of worm resistant sheep by worming. Now think about it, if worming worked, you'd do it once and done. The truth is it does'nt work. Yet commercial farmers don't think and continue with these poor practices. Perpetuation of worms is not the solution.
