Great review; I will be rewatching this several times! The Abilities and TacOps are definitely awkward and too conditional so I see them being simplified, while some of the operative powers will get nerfed. This is a must buy especially as a NL fan. “Pre-sci-ence’ not ‘Preysense’ although that does sound cool; they definitely captured the NL fluff names!

Well, maybe they are testing this skip activation ability and later we'll see it implemented more and more. Its not an easy task, after all, plenty of questions to answer - which teams should recieve it? Everyone less than 10 activations? Or like in Malifaux - at the start of each turn team with less activations will be compensated with skip tokens so they will match in activations with a team with more of them? Or something else? How it will affect a game system in general? I hope thats GW reasoning, judging by the last dataslate, they can listen to the community.
i got a feeling they did not test many times these new kill teams in ITD, only open or BD. there is gonna be an FAQ dropping after like 2 to 3 months after release methinks
Great review, John. Very informative. So, which is the best Nemesis Claw roster (operatives and their equipment) and with which Tac Ops and Ploys, do you think? I'm very new to Kill Team and Night Lords are my favorite, so i'm very eager to start with them and i would really appreciate your advice.
So...In Midnight Clad...they don't really have a 'super conceal'...just a 'obscured when close to some terrain', which is then removed by the Ignores Obscuring of the enemy sniper, or anyone 6" away? Seems like an tragically underwhelming ability...my other teams have way more impactful faction abilities...feelsbad.
@@CanYouRollaCrit Sorry I wrote this comment in a rage before I heard your complete rundown of it. I blame it on my 1+ Screecher ability. I agree, the rest of the abilities are great. At the risk of complaining, I'd rather they tone down some of the rest and make this super cool and thematic (and functional)...
How well do you think the nightlords would do against the mandrakes? The fight-first tac ploy from the mandrakes seems like a solid problem for them being so melee-oriented.
Sounds like a very nicely thematic team with some sweet abilities and playstle, but i know my hardest opponent with this team, would be myself trying to remember everything about the team 😂
You mentioned using the prescience ability to skip six activations, but would the A Worthy Cause core rule adjustment prevent six delayed actions in a row? "Some rules allow you to activate operatives in succession before your opponent can activate. Regardless of such rules, you can never activate more than two operatives in the same Turning Point before your opponent has had a turn to activate a ready operative or perform Overwatch." If not, I feel like a similar rule will get implemented with successive delaying for a similar reason, it just tends to build very unhealthy play patterns otherwise
Hey CRYAC, I think you may be misunderstanding the "In Midnight Clad" ability. While it is true that those on vantage treat concealed operatives behind light cover as engaged, that Nightlord is still obscured, therefore vantage does not make their ability useless since that operative "In Midnight Clad" would be obscured and therefore an invalid operative. Hope that helps!

as a long term Night Lord player im excited for this. A bit bummed they dont have true super conceal and echoing the idea that thry just power crept other elite teams when maybe "spend a CP to skip an activation" maybe could have been a balancing act but likely wont. IDK, kind of excited to grab some Mk6s to mash up with this kit, but it also sounds like you wouldnt even need to use 10 sculpts (much less a full 20 roster)

they're dark enough doing a dry brush of a medium blue over black primer works well, but they're almost so dark that Contrast doesn't quite work for one coat out of the bottle lots of good tutorials for them online depending on the speed vs quality you want to go with
@@Crushanator1 honestly, imo a lot of the tutorials are very special techniques only the oficiall from gw is what i prefer but here i have hard skill-issues with layering...
They're not as broken as Mandrake, which is good, but on the other hand it looks a bit like NL is going to replace Legionary, which is a bit odd by design. BTW Every elite team should get skip activation as default
I think you're discarding Heavy Gunners too quickly. First, even in Legionaries, Chaincannon isn't the best in all cases, both Missile Launcher and Heavy Bolter have a lot of play. Second, this team doesn't have to spend extra CP on double Shoot - they get it packaged in the same Ploy as Double Fight, which they do want to proc, especially with their "second Charge" Tac Ploy. It's a huge bonus to the effectiveness of the Heavy Bolter.
The chaincannon only loses out to the heavy bolter if it has lethal 5+ with shoot twice. It's still better in all cases. Missile launcher only works of people bunch up. Chaincannon is the best because it doesn't need CP to function Making space for the heavy gunner in nemesis claw isn't worth it as you'll be dropping an important unique operative
@@CanYouRollaCrit Again, you get Shoot Twice basically for free in this team as you would want Fight Twice anyway. Second, Krak profile of the launcher can be pretty effective, don't discount it. It may not be as reliable as Chaincannon, but it still deals tons of damage. IIRC, it has higher average damage, though I may be wrong. While _also_ getting Blast potential. Third, it all depends on the matchup and the map. In certain situations. I certainly wouldn't mind a burst of big ranged damage over a slow tickle of MW from the poison guy, for example.
Yeah but you *have* to spend a CP to make the heavy bolter worth it and the missile is relying on people to bunch up to be effective. Poison guy is always worth keeping over the heavy due to MW damage, better board control and long range trickle damage if needed which complements all your other specialists

Completely disagree on ability. Oftentimes, it will be easy to achieve and still thisnisnto give you that edge. You just have to be near cover, not even behind it...

Wait the terrorchem lasts until the end of the battle?! Sounds like Inferno needs a buff. But really, I'm sure it will get rebalanced to the token is removed after applying the d3 MW at ready operatives step.
