Ok, so this performance was recorded around the whole chaotic Covid time. Drummer Tamu had been on maternity leave and had just returned, and many bands had been suffering with the uncertainty around touring and playing in public due to the pandemic restrictions etc. The band only formed in 2019, so pretty much just as they were starting to find their feet, everything seemed to happen at once, so their momentum was interrupted. They kept going through it all, still recording cover videos with guest drummers from the bands whose songs they covered, and then Tamu came back. Things started to look brighter again. In this video, the band had all turned to face Tamu as they performed the song as part of the welcome-back. The lyric references to the potential of children and pushing on through adversity fitted the circumstances perfectly. The backstage footage is Hazuki's birthday celebration. She's the guitarist on our left playing the Ibanez guitar. 'Life' is a hugely important song to the band and the fans. Certainly to me.
Cool, you got to it! 👍 One thing I should mention: they had some audio problems when they recorded this no-audience live show, so they had to dub on the audio from the album track. It makes little difference as they nail it just as beautifully live as on recordings. Mayu, the singer, frequently gets a little overwhelmed and teary when they perform this song. The same thing happens to many audience members. Great lyrics and a nice backstory to the video, what with Tamu's return from maternity and everything.
